Our county just went to a level 2 emergency. Yea...we'll pretty much all be staying home....and praying that the power stays on (we have plenty of blankets, flashlights, water, and food snacky things - we fought the masses beforehand).

My ticker for Australia is 4 days! I can barely stand it! I'm packing today, because I sure can't go anywhere in this snow!

Good news! I had my scope today. My esophagus and top of the intestine looks all normal. No ulcers or a hernia. I do have inflammation in my stomach so they did a biopsy and are checking for a bacterial infection (if I do I just need antibiotics). I don't even feel the pH metering device they put in which is awesome. I also didn't wake up during the procedure.

Even though our dear friend passed away this week - his wife insists that we still go on our trip to Australia as planned. She said her husband would have wanted that. So we have decided to go. As one of their relatives said to me "you can cry anywhere."

The cyclone hit north of where we are going to be, so our area is not effected.

ang - i agree with them....i think you should go on your trip, i think it's very much needed for you.....i'm thinking of and praying for all of you -

you know, God is just so unbelievably amazing.....i had an interesting morning....i was eating a red velvet cupcake this morning for breakfast, and while i was enjoying this unconventional nosh, i was struck by something - just how sweet God is, to all of us, all the time.....i've been having a problem with patience the last few days, and it's been weighing on me - i know it's something i need to work on, and i've become aware that God is working through me on this....i have a sense of peace and calm....and that the love i'm feeling, the love i'm receiving, is real, unconditional, beautiful, and God-blessed, God-breathed, and is worth waiting for....

what an amazing, wonderful, loving God we serve....i thank Him with my heart and my mouth, for all His blessings....

You know... sometimes it's really amazing how God works in our lives. Thirty years ago, I was reasonably happy and had finally found something that I was really good at. That may not sound like much to most folks, but I had never been good, really good, exceptional in any way, at anything at all. Horses had always been a love of mine. My favourite book as a child was Little Black A Pony, if you can believe it, LOL! I read, memorized really, all the books by Walter Farley on the Black Stallion, loved Black Beauty, My Friend Flicka, etc, etc, etc...

Thus I find myself in a quandary. I really love my Studebaker automobiles. However there was once a time when I loved my Studebaker Carriages. I have a chance to turn the clock back, as it were, and start over again. The sixty-nine thousand dollar question is; do I want to?

Sometimes I really do.

Sometimes I really don't.

Mosttimes I'm afraid to even think about it.

Surely most of you have seen the posts I've made on Horse drawn Studebakers. They really are my first love. Fifteen years devotion, a love affair if you will, is really a wrench to let go. It wasn't something that was willing or voluntary in any wise. All the same, economics, realities of parental responsibilities, etc... sometimes make our decisions for us.

Fast forward twenty, or more, years to the present. Here I am with the opportunity of starting over with horses and carriages, add to that the opportunity of several horse drawn Studebakers at very good prices, and you can see my quandary. Something will have to be traded for the opportunities. The only things I have of value are my model trains (which are currently for sale) and my stationwagon. Bess is not really of any great value, however, I'm sure she has some, at least. After all, I saw one for sale in the Sacramento area that wasn't really in any better condition for five grand! In fact, the Sacramento Parkview may have been in worse condition. If I could get four grand for Bess...

But do I really want to sell?

Should I trade my present love for my first love?

What to do. What to do...

Just needed to vent in a sympathetic location, thanks for listening.

My throat has been hurting from the pH meter. It spasms every now and again and feels like I'm trying to swallow. It says it will remove itself in 6-8 days. This is day 6.

I can't really do anything about it but try and ignore it.

On the plus, I have some very comfy shoes I discovered to replace my like 10 year old broken ones. I felt awkward wearing sneakers to church.
