why has God blessed me so?? why do i deserve it?? i don't know why but i couldn't be more grateful......nobody could know how unbelievably happy i am...
You don't deserve it. Nobody does! It's all because of God's grace!
Doesn't that make you even happier than you were before?

Tanj, Lambie, and Mum, yes that's most certainly true!

Well, we got about six inches of very wet snow here in beautiful Downtown Fawn Lodge yesterday. I came upon a downed Oak in the driveway last night and had to foot it to the house the last half mile. The forrest is sure beautiful when wearing a mantle of snow. Looks like I'll get nearly a cord of split oak from this tree. Well... at least half a cord. Good firewood for next year. Problem with Live Oak though is that it dulls the saw chain. I need to get a spare so that a dull chain doesn't keep me from working.

You are quite the mountain man, Stude!

I still have my Christmas cold. I spent the night coughing....ugh, hard to sleep. We are invited to 2 New Year's Eve parties tomorrow night after church. I think we will hit both of them. One is at Pastor's and the other - hubby's boss. We only live a mile from his boss - so we should avoid the nuts on the roadways being we live on a dirt road.

A blessed new year to all!

Easy darling, you might tempt the opponent! All the same, you're quite right!

You are quite the mountain man, Stude!

LOL, thanks Sis! However, I don't think I quite qualify... not uncouth enough. As to the cold; Airborne works for me. When I'm dealing with the nasties, it's three times a day for the fizzies!

You know, it absolutely amazes me. Every time it snows here people start caroming around the road. Day before yesterday, I saw a woman in the ditch because of the (few inches of) snow. She was driving a BMW AWD hatchback, I know the thing has anti-lock etc, and yet the idiot still ended up in the ditch. What a yutz! Then further along the road, people were passing me at sixty miles an hour! Insane, just... insane! Then you have the opposite who is only going ten miles an hour and constantly stabbing their brakes, oi vay! Yeah, "nuts on the roads," is much more complementary than I'd put it... So maybe it's best I don't, if you know what I mean.

Started reading The Hammer Of God a few days ago. Almost done with it. Excellent book, if a bit contrived in the story line. All the same, it's very interesting to see the progression in the community and the Parsonage.

We have had dense fog yesterday and today. Rain on top of snow, that kind of stuff. Drivers have been quite the experience, don't people know how to turn on their headlights and fog lights?

Here in California, they don't know how to shut the fog lamps OFF. Also, many people like to buy the extra BRIGHT fog lamp bulbs. that way they don't have their brights on and still blind you. Funny, the law says that one may not have the fog lamps on with the driving lamps if there is no fog. People do it all the time anyway. If I was rich, I'd buy a bunch of billboards and put the following slogan on them, "Hey stoopid! Shut off your fog lamps, will ya?"
Then again, that just might be a touch over the top.

thank you, I feel better now. I know, I know... a personal issue I should get over...

I think I got bronchitis to start off 2011. Oh well....if I'm not coughing too much we will go to church tonight. I love New Year's services.

It is so warm here in MI. High of 53 for today. The snow all melted over night. Weird to see grass.

A Happy and Blessed New Year to all my dear friends. I've been hanging out here for 4 1/2 years. Doesn't seem possible.

ctay I know what you mean. I developed a cold yesterday evening and last night I was battling PND all night which made me restless. I at least took a 24-hour allergy pill at the onset so I could be feeling a LOT worse. Right now my ears are a bit plugged up and my throat is a bit sore from last night.

I have had the sinus congestion and full feeling ear this week. Got antibiotics a couple of days ago.

Well, once the fog lifted, looks like lots of snow melted. Kind of nice to see a grass spots. We are expecting another snow this afternoon into tomorrow.

I need to get busy on laundry and a few other things. We are leaving Sunday after worship for a winter vacation driving down to Texas. Sister lives in Corpus Christi and we will spend a few days with her and then head back. Sadly, I need to take a couple of text books with me. We have a do ahead assignment for our nursing class and I want to look over and work on Dosage Calculations too.

Plan on reconnecting with a friend from all the way back in Junior High while going through Dallas. Today, I need to figure out a few hotels along our route.

All the best to those under the weather. Airborne, Airborne, Airborne!

You know, I never quite 'got' New Years. The whole thing has always struck me as an excuse for a hedonistic celebration. Not that I have anything against a hedonistic celebration (within limits), it's just that New Years and Mardi Gras celebrations seem to get out of hand.

I just hope everyone on this forum has a good time and stays safe. I shudder to think what the extremist groups round the world might do tonight. After all, how often does such an opportunity like Times Square at New Year's Eve present itself? May our gracious Lord protect this unworthy country one more time.

to all who are feeling ill or recuperating - prayers that y'all get better super quick, nobody wants to start off the new year sick!! i'm thankful that whatever illness i had is over with now....

stude - i never understood it either, the whole "new year's eve" business.....i have gone out for new year's a grand total of once, and while it was fun (and i was very young when i did that), it's not something i would ever do again.....i would much rather just stay inside with the doors locked, watch whatever marathon is on tv, have some snackage and just a wee bit of cheer, watch the ball drop and go to bed.....i don't want to be anywhere NEAR a street, at ANY point, during new year's eve!!

thanking God this afternoon for the safe return of someone special
