I'm just stirring up stuff in GT ;)

So for Reformation Sunday I've decided to make sweet kraut and a cake for our church's German feast.

Do you think a spiced rum cake would be inappropriate? :)

I swear when I first read this that you were making a "kraut cake" ^_^ I could not fathom how that would taste! :sorry:

i dunno - andrew zimmern on "bizarre foods" had saurkraut pie in minnesota, and said it was really good! LOL

i'm actually going to attempt a hotdish for our Reformation Potluck on Sunday - not a traditional german dish, others will be doing that, i'm going to try something that seems easy enough that a dunderhead like myself can make....

Chicken Tortilla Pie (i'll be doubling it)

please :prayer: that God will be with everybody as they try my dish....lol

My font color is green (in my preferences).

I dunno...I'd probably be willing to eat anything with sauerkraut in it ^.^ Just don't give me lutefisk.

oh neat! i didn't know you could do that! (oh boy oh boy, a new thing to play with!)

saurkraut is AWESOME.....yum yum yum.....i have never tried lutefisk (ironic, since i'm 1/4 swede), i would be willing to try a BITE of it, but a whole serving of it, no way, LOL....

Not much German in me. When I was first married my wife told me I had to try sauerkraut which I refused, but she kept at me, Huh surprise ^_^

I finally agreed to try it, but never could stand the smell :sorry: So she made me abig dish of it. I tokk a small bite, Ugh! I then proceded to pour out a bottle of ketshup on it to kill the taste. All the while she was insisting that I would love it. I ate about half a plate full and was later sick. She has never asked me since :p

I love sauerkraut so long as the person cooking it doesn't put brown sugar in it.

I mean, really? It's called "sauer"kraut for a reason!

My mom makes the best sauerkraut.

I'm freezing...chilled through. Played golf with my son today and the weather almost held up for 18 holes, but it started raining for realz around the 13th hole and it was windy so we called it quits. We got home about two hours ago and I still have not warmed up yet.

I have that Reynauld's circulatory disease, so I'm sure that's coming into play.
