Average high and low temps for December where I live: 63 high, 42 low. Gotta' love it! :)

And maybe once a year (or sometimes once every 2 years) we have snowfall that melts the same day.

Close enough to your ideal conditions, filo? Come on down!

My son turns 6 on Monday. We were not going to throw birthday parties for the kids this first year and keep things low key - while instead having a big bash on "Gotcha Day" (the one year anniversary of us getting them). My in-laws gave me a hard time about it, so I'm giving in and doing an informal "birthday play date" at Monkey Joes. The place has a rule that you can't bring presents inside unless you do an organized party and I didn't - hee hee. The in-laws just wouldn't relent, and frankly if I didn't do anything, they would have done it and this way I can at least control how far it goes.

I guess we got to teach them materialism early. :(

I'm telling you, I knew we were a materialistic society, but I had no idea how much until I observed our kids just having a good old time with a small fraction of the toys and games that most kids have. Then the family is telling me that we are somehow depriving them because they don't have more.

On the other hand, my big boy turns 6 on Monday! He's grown, like 3 inches, since we've been home. He's the tallest kid in his kindergarten class! His English has come along to the point we can have little conversations now. He and his sister likes my adventurous cooking and will eat just about anything we give them (actually we've spoiled them with homemade cooking so now they now won't do canned soups or Chef Boyardee, LOL). Amazing, and Praise God!

I didn't know goats are so stinky. :) We only had cows, calves, pigs, chickens, dogs and cats on our farm. The pigs were stinky - but nothing is worse than chickens - ick!

Yeah, the does aren't bad. In fact, Penny, our old lady, is quite nice, so's Turtle her daughter. The Billys though, are thoroughly disgusting. Bart, George's main stud, is very friendly, however also very stinky. He can get very affectionate (especially if you give him goodies) and will rub on you if allowed to. I won't even tell you what they do for 'cologne'.:aarh::sick:

Have you never smelt a skunk? ^_^

this is most certainly true, the only thing worse smelling than a live skunk is a dead one.

Congrats on the six-year-old, Flipper. Yeah, half the reven... ahem:blush::sorry:, fun of being a grandparent is to spoil the kiddies.;):p Gee, when I was six, anything by Chef Boyardee was high gormet, LOL.;)^_^ Now, I agree with your kids, it's disgusting. Too sweet. Count your lucky stars that the kids have taste and appreciate your effort to give them good food.;)

Well, I was thinking of farm animals. But in the wildlife world, the skunk is for sure the winner! :D
hrumph---------I like the smell of skunk. Smells like a heavy dose of coffee to me. When I was a kid my dad told us kids to inhale deeply when we went through skunk smell. He said it was good for bronchial problems. He was an old time doctor/dentist. Brilliant man----had both degrees.

Ya know, come to think of it, I never heard a skunk cough.

:D
I did a little diggin on skunks and their "odor" seems to affect people with Asthma. Not for the better either so I guess he didn't know "stink". On that one I think he was skunked. :o:waaah:

LOL. I am sure that in his day they didn't realized the negative affects on asthmatics.

waking up at 5 am is not fun. lol i have to do it again tommorow. My job makes me like being in college.
It could be worse. I used to live in an apartment in the upstairs of a big old house. For a while, I had a downstairs neighbor that was a baker. I'd come home from work at midnight and as I was getting ready for bed, I'd hear him getting up to go to work. A few hours later, I'd hear the wife's alarm clock.

Flipper, happy birthday to your boy. Today was Adoption Day +5 for Tiger. We didn't do anything special. I think the kids are planning something special for Wednesday. They think they are going to surprise me with a birthday party between the time they get home from school and the time the girls have to be at church. Weekday school/catechism class starts this week. Sunday School started last week. 3rd graders got their catechisms and Bibles. After service, we talked to Pastor & he gave them theirs. Now that they have been "Lutherans-in-training" for a few weeks, I think they finally have one of the basics down--the difference between Martin Luther and Martin Luther King Jr. Due to the rules we have to follow (freedom of religion), I'm happy they made the choice they did.
