  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've had 3 pregnancies and I don't think I've received a single strange, weird or inappropriate comment!

Oh, wait, my MIL when finding out we were pregnant with our third asked if my hubby (her son!) was too wimpy to get a vasectomy. This from a woman who had SIX kids herself and who said we were done having kids? Hubby and I still haven't officially decided whether we are done yet or not.
okay I am SOOOOOO glad that it is not just my MIL that does stuff like that!

"You think you're tired NOW. Just wait till you have that baby." This made me more angry than any other comment and I heard this one A LOT as a preschool teacher. Yes, it's true that pregnancy lack of sleep is different than new baby lack of sleep but STILL...talk about your feelings being completely ignored and invalidated. I swear I will never say this to a pregnant woman.
I've always been much more tired while pregnant than with a newborn. Once I figured out how to nurse while sleeping it was all good from there!

My sister in law looks really young (and looked even younger 4 years ago when she was pregnant with my nephew) people would give her dirty looks and just stare at her a lot. Then if for whatever reason or another they found out she was married they would be really nice like "Oh, wow, you just looked really young". Like if she wasn't married that would justify being rude??

My mom had such a flat tummy when she was pregnant with me at 28 weeks that a lady at her church started telling everybody she had lost the baby

Some people just don't think!!!

I didn't really mind if people told me I was so skinny or so huge etc. I was so emotional during the pregnancy that I had to make a decision not to be offended by what people said.

Are you serious? Has she ever been pregnant?

Yes and she was a grandmother as well.

A nurse asked me if I was pregnant or just overweight.

And I was 8 months along.

That reminds me of the time I was with my [then] 2 year old at a hotel and some lady says, "He's cute. Oh, and another one on the way?" as she bent her head and spoke into my post baby belly. I said, "No. Apparently, I'm just fat." :D

My Nana watched me for an hour or so a week after I was born and my parents went out. The waiter asked my mum when she was due, not too surprising as most people look about 5 months pregnant at a week postpartum. Mum just said 'a few months' so that he wouldn't feel embarrassed. ^_^

I get dirty looks all the time!

A couple of weeks ago I was picking up some dinner which we were eating with my inlaws, it was just me and my 5month old picking up the food. This older woman (30's - no kids, i could tell from my eavesdropping! though it would be hard not to hear in the small space) just looked me up and down with this look of disgust on her face - and she didn't even look away when caught! I was wishing I had my 2 y/o with me too! Or that she'd see my wedding ring! some people...

Someone told me that just this week... I was thinking "uhm, you think the baby is inactive now and not keeping me awake at weird times maybe?"

DH is the one that needs to be told that one... he never gets up when I do if I wake up hungry on the wekeends around 6 am or because the baby's kicking up such a storm that I ache all over and can't lay there any more.. I told him he won't have that luxury come end of May early June.. he'll be up more than me ... :|

Oh my! I got the look today and then someone noticed my ring and their whole demeanor changed. Since I wear my coat all the time the usual kids who I ride the bus with can't tell and they're awfully rude about me taking and keeping my place and trying to maintain a bubble... before much longer I'm just going to end up having to be rude right back and tell them where to put it so I can have some space, that apparently the baby doesn't like being squashed in transit. :sorry:

We rode like sardines today in the bus back home.(totally not exaggerating, the bus closed and we were packed and nearly 20 more people got on at the last stop before the first one where anyone gets off) Thank G-d I was able to get a standing place up by the front. Had I been any further back, I would have been sick or likely squashed! Next time I might wait for another bus, but I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for one or have to call one of my inlaws and see if they could come get me...

Last two pregnancies, I was always so small to everyone. This one, I'm the same size, but either I'm having twins or I'm too small... Well which one? Am I huge or small? :D

My favorites are when young kids (like 5yo) come up and ask "Why is your belly so fat?". I tell them there's a baby growing in there. Sometimes that's enough, other times, they're confused and just ask again. The things kids say!:D
