Back in May a lady in my church came to me and expressed a desire to begin a children's church. A week later the same lady came to me and again expressed this desire and asked me if it would be a good idea. Of course I said it would because it would be ministering to the children. Another week went by and the lady asked me if a children's church was started, would I teach one Sunday. Of course I would be willing to teach one Sunday. Well to make a long story short when it was announced that the children's church was formed guessed who was introduced as the teacher? Me! Now I didn't mind teaching the children, as long as I had someone to help me "watch" them, this person was going to be the lady who had the idea to start the children's church. But over the past 3 months she has only been there 3 Sundays to help with children's church. And now she is moving to another church in order to "help" them start ministries.

My question boils down to this: Why do we begin things and never see them through? :(

Disappointing isn't it? Well, every church has it share of those. So many times I have seen that happen.

Not long ago I volunteered to help organize an Evangelistiv Crusade and soon found myself doing it all. ButPraise God! Sometimes it is all for the better and the blessings we get are greater in the end than we expected in the beginning!

Yeah it is disappointing :( You may not remember but in August I will be moving to Liberty University and I was hoping that the children's church would continue in order to help them grow. But it doesn't seem as if there is anyone who would be willing to take over when I am gone.

Thanks for your reply Gerry! :)

I wonder if there is anyway I could impose and prevail upon you for an awesome favor. Seems kinda sill I suppose. But you will no doubt have the incredibly awesome priviledge of meeting Sumner Wemp face to face. Be sure to get your hands on everything you can by this guy. Books, tapes, any and everything.

Please tell him that because of what he has done, There are many of us out here that will have trophies to lay at the feet of Jesus, that might not otherwise have had.

It was because of some tapes of his that I got my hands on that I learned that Soul winning was so very easy and not a difficult impossible job like I once thought it was.

He is a TRUE HERO of the Faith! When we get to Heaven I will give him a hug then. But YOU will have the chance to do it both places.

As for the Childrens Church, we will just have to pray that God will provide for that!

I know you will be busy when School starts but by all means you gotta come and give reports from time to time. There will be so much excitement you will need to share some anyway.

I am very very Jealous! Wish I could go with you!

One more thing about the Childrens Church. Remember, that no matter how it works out, God is STILL in charge and either way it goes God will be Glorified! Thanks for caring about the kids! That takes a very special heart!

My friends pastor a church where the same thing happened. A couple got several ministries running, then left the church to start a new church. For a while, some students from a nearby university were helping with the ministries, but when school let out for the summer and they went home, all those ministries came crashing to the ground. They are hoping that when the students come back, things will start up again, but they lost about 50% of their attedence, because parents were bringing their kids, then staying for adult activities, too. When the children's activities stopped, the parents stopped coming, too.

I direct the childrens church group at my church. What works well for us is to have several teachers (each with one assistant) and we alternate weekly. This way we average teaching one class every 6 weeks or so. Try to encourage the parents of these children attending to teach or assist. Our assistants are made up of the teens within our church, and this works well, too. It takes alot of prayer to keep childrens church up and running. I sincerely pray that the Lord leads the adults within your church to help you. It is also gonna take begging probally, but its worth it. Try everything in your power before you have to close the doors. Your children are our future and they need to be taught early on so they can be the leaders of a new generation. Wishing you the best.

Remember to always let God lead you into where HE wants you to serve! Man will always tell you what you should do and where you should serve, but it should be God telling you and He will also annoint you to do the task He has called you to!

i think this could be a prime example of how you must aknowlegde god in all things, then hell direct your paths and it will be well with you.

potential does not equal purpose.
jesus was often pressed by the people, and often at the hight and climax of ministry he ran away and got alone.
just because there is an oppurtunity does not mean it is gods will.
activity does not equal achievement.
no matter what is offered to you, no matter how great or godly or needed it may seem, you dont accept it untill you have an ok from God.
i am amased at the level of success in minstry i read about in the book of acts.
but i also recall paul desiring to go into asia, but the holyspirit not allowing him to.
you cannot trust anything but the direction of god.

i understand that the word of god needs preached anyway, but do not accept obligations or critical commitments without direction from god, becuase these things echo in eternity. sometimes we do not realise how close we are to stepping into the will or god, or off a cliff. to much matters.
do what god tells you do and enables you to do, and leave the rest up to God and who he has assighned to do that.
