BoarderDave brought something rather startling to my attention in the "T-shirts that say something" thread:
Notice how the overall blobbish shape of the body doesn't change much, and the color variation is only slight. But it's striking how we start off with a creature with kind, almost human eyes, and they get progressively blacker and beadier further down the "chain." Notice how the mouth starts off toothless...then it moves into the beginnings of a set of teeth that appear to be those of a herbivore and rather unthreatening...and then we end up with a downright frightening set of fangs that would make even the most jaded T-Rex cringe.
Could we be looking at a possible genetic link here?
A single genome in various stages of evolution?
