  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Speaking of McDonald's, does anybody have any clues what the heck this guy is supposed to be?:

Yeah I can see the "drop" part, based on his overall body shape.

What I never quite got though is why did they make him purple? If he's supposed to represent shakes, which are cold, why not blue?

And does anybody find it an odd coincidence that "Barney the Dinosaur" happens to be almost the same shade of purple too?

i'll be honest. Grimace always scared me as a child. What does his name mean anyway? that he's unhappy? hates children but pretends with a grimace on his face? Does he feel torn b/c perhaps he's health concious but is forced to haulk cheap greasy food to the massses? Is Ronald McDonald blackmailing him? what is the backstory?

Wouldn't surprise me. Probably has some photos of him in a compromising situation with Cookie Monster or something, and just uses him as cheap pawn to do all his dirty work.

Come to think of it, I have heard Ronald McDonald's name come up in certain circles whenever the topic of the "Kennedy Assassination" has been brought up.

Third gunman on the grassy knoll? He wouldn't!

BoarderDave brought something rather startling to my attention in the "T-shirts that say something" thread:

Notice how the overall blobbish shape of the body doesn't change much, and the color variation is only slight. But it's striking how we start off with a creature with kind, almost human eyes, and they get progressively blacker and beadier further down the "chain." Notice how the mouth starts off toothless...then it moves into the beginnings of a set of teeth that appear to be those of a herbivore and rather unthreatening...and then we end up with a downright frightening set of fangs that would make even the most jaded T-Rex cringe.

Could we be looking at a possible genetic link here?

A single genome in various stages of evolution?

Today, The Happy Meal.....tomorrow, the world?

Grimace is a large, purple being of indeterminate species with short arms and legs; he is known for his monotonous face and slow-witted demeanor. His most common expression is the word "duh". Originally, Grimace was the "Evil Grimace", with two pairs of arms with which to steal milkshakes. After that first campaign, the character was revised to be one of the "good guys", and his number of arms was reduced by two. Commercials and merchandise generally portrayed him as a well-meaning simpleton, whose clumsy antics provided a comic foil to Ronald McDonald. The character was retained after the streamlining of the characters in the '80s, but was dropped in 2007.

He's a strange phenomenon unexplained by modern science. We (man) created him. He's an unspeakably blasphemous creation of our collective subconscious minds. Birthed at a time when the whole world "loved" McDonald's. This mystical/prophetic oddity of human nature was our unknown, but foreseen, real reaction to McDonald's in the future.

Did we really love McDonald's? The grimace [wink] says not.
