Theistic Evolutionists Needed.

I have recently stumbled upon this site. I have mentioned that I am a theistic evolutionist, and a debate has ensued. I am as knowledgeable on the subject as many of you, so I was wondering if you could take a few minutes out of your time to register for the forums and fight the good fight. Lots of strawmen, misconceptions. (evolution caused genocide, "where are the scientist monkeys"/"Maybe they're mutating" was the response). My post is in the Biblical Issues forum. Thank you so much for helping me out.

Hi platzapS,

I'm a Baptist and(!) a theological evolutionist , so I wandered over there and registered. It looks like the biggest problem is that right now, rather than discussing "Darwin's" theory of evolution, the discussion is about "Strawman's" theory of evolution

I may be too busy to participate much, but you seem to be doing a good job by yourself. You might want to pick a specific topic, so you'll just have one row of strawmen to knock down before a real debate can proceed! I'll try to chime in if something arises about which I'm knowledgeable.

Well they were calling us heretics so I said creationism makes God stupid and cruel because of all the mistakes in creation, like a human tail. At least I could back it up with pictures

They cut half of the thread out (from about where lucaspa started posting lol) and added it to a new thread called "heresy", then they deleted the heresy thread and closed the theistic evolution one.

It really annoys me when someone posts something thinking they know what they are talking about when they are obviously wrong

I find it hilarious when creationists admit to evolution occuring without realising it, then they say their strawman version of evolution could not happen lol.

heh, I registered and then got deleted. so I registered again so I could read the posts. you are right, the board isn't worth our time. It is a shame really that they don't allow debate. That is why I really respect Erwin and the moderators and Administrators of this board; they are so comfortable and secure in their faith that they allow these discussions, and discussions of a controversial nature, rather than hide in a little online hole away from the real world.

I had several posts on their, and the moderator deleted them all and then locked the thread. Wblastyn's tail picture is gone, too.

I got a PM saying I'm not welcome there anymore.

I find that one quite ironic, since apostasy is rejecting a religious faith. And they are rejecting that God created because they won't accept that the evidence in God's Creation is really from God.

It's very sad, because they are giving huge amounts of fuel to the perception that Christians are ignorant and keep out ideas that don't agree with Christianity.

It is the "truth" of creationism that we are trying to decide. You are trying to declare the discussion closed by fiat, just like the Baptist board did.

The board is entitled "creation science and theistic evolution". That means that theistic evolution is considered a valid view of discussion.

1. You must convince us by extrabiblical and Biblical evidence that creationism is true.

2. You must convince us by extrabiblical and Biblical evidence that theistic evolution is false.

In both forums we have presented massive amounts of evidence that Creationism is false. God simply did not create by this man-made theory.

OTOH, there is overwhelming support that God created by the processes that you loosely lump under "evolution".

I had the effrontery to start a thread entitled "Biological evolution" to just explain what evolution is so they don't attack a strawman. Not commenting on whether it was true or not, just what it really is.

Yes, I told them that if I were a non-Christian or did not know that most Christians are not like them, I would flee from Christianity and never look back because of the way they were behaving.

I'm with you in that confusion. My hypothesis, on the other thread, is that they really have made literalism their god. We came along and showed them 1) that they didn't take all the Bible literally, 2) that there was a second book of God -- Creation, and 3) that extrabiblical knowledge was used to evaluate the literalness of a passage.

All of those were, unwittingly, a direct attack on their god. And they reacted violently. Because we did not accept their god, that's why we were called unbelievers.
