  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Theistic Evolution?

But we weren't human, that's the theory of evolution!

True, but while we accept evolution, we don't agree with that particular premise.

IOV humans were, as I said, always human!

What you're saying is you believe in theistic evolution by a means of evolutionary change that I've never heard of before.

That even in the primordial soup some single-celled life had a soul and was human.

Precisely.

Peace, :)

Then for the purposes of your brief posts it's misleading to say that you believe in theistic evolution. Getting information out of your posts is like having teeth pulled: long, and painful. I'd have thought some Baha'i might want to be more upfront about this.

Technically you can say that but for most evolution means a particular process and your theory of evolution isn't that, but unique.

When you say you don't agree with 'that particular premise' it's a massive understatement because evolution RESTS on that premise.

What science is it based on?

Surely you must believe in a special creation then, at the point of uni-cellular organisms???

Furthermore your posts merely convince me of the anti-Christian nature of atheists and agnostics on this thread.

If I or another Christian had made a claim against evolution (as it's understood) they'd be all over our posts but you, your posts go untouched by them.

They don't seem to see your posts.

Not in the least: we believe in both Creation and evolution and have no problem whatever with either, or with reconciling them!

Further, you're totally ignoring (if you're aware of it at all) the central Baha'i principle of the agreement of science and religion--and the importance of both!

Perhaps a bit more study and famliarization would be helpful.

Peace,

Bruce

Very similar to Catholic teachings which is why I don't get attacked or denigrated in Creation/evolution debates. Not that an atheists view of me or my faith is important.

CC does not teach that believing in either is salvific. It does not determine heaven/hell for us.

Whereas Christians who believe in Creationism obviously tie their Salvation to it IOW if they don't believe in it, they are going to Hell, so some attempt to find scientific evidence of Creationism. This brought about the advent of YE pseudo-science which is not taken seriously by the wider scientific community.
