Yesterday I stepped out briefly to take garbage to the dumpster. I’m pretty sure I locked the door behind me, especially since I find the retired couple across the hall to be very concerning.

As I mentioned here before, they act like they are all cheery and friendly, but it seems fake. Some nights I have had insomnia and looked out the window. and have seen them walking around
at 2 AM even in sub zero weather - always in the same direction towards the same building. Honestly, I am guessing that is the meet up time and place for them and some others.

Also, based on sometimes hearing the sounds of a door closing, though quietly, and quiet footsteps down the stairs, I have noticed they seem to be on
a 2 AM trek schedule, which seems witchy to me to tell you the truth.

Anyway, I came back to find that my door was slightly ajar. Not only that but some items were missing. Oddly, one of them was a dental appliance. My purse had been sitting out on the table so I have asked to be given a new credit card.

I am having someone come in to change my door’s lock also. I wonder if anyone knows much about what they call smart locks. These locks have buttons that you push instead of a key. I have asked for one to be installed, but don’t know much about them.

Please pray for me to be protected, along with all that belongs to me from those people across the hall
and any others like them.

Sorry to hear about your issues there. I recently rented a condo with what I thought was a double lock. I lost the key and called a locksmith. He got in in less than one minute. In your case though it sounds like they might have a key. Perhaps from a former tenant, a master key if your place has such a thing? Rentals are hard to not to be compromised. Anyone who touches a key could be the one who will imprint or copy it. A push button lock on a rental seems good. However, just as landlords keep a key copy, they likely will want a code too. They do this because your pipes or something might bust and they would have to get inside if you are not home. Such emergency entry is fairly standard on most leases.

The best advice other than prayer, would be to install a hidden camera in your place. That would be all the evidence you need. However, pressing charges itself is dangerous if they still live there and with easy bail laws they likely will be around.

God bless!

Thank you so much for your concern and prayers and advice. I don’t have a landlord. But I do have The Lord!

The culprits that I believe were involved did not do anything that I could prove or would be worthy of a police report. I know these kinds of people. They are very slick and covert. They aren’t going to do anything that would cause this complex to get a bad reputation and thus cause their property values to go down.

Sorry I assumed you rented. As a practical matter, I do hope you have or install a chain lock or other locking device that no one can tamper with from the outside. Also, when you are shopping deadbolts, regular or keypad entry, there are security grades. ANSI level 1 is the best, 2 is decent and 3 is the lowest grade. Some doors or jambs might not accommodate the level 1 too easily. But any competent installer should be able to help you select a secure lock for your door. The better grades of course are more expensive.

Well, I tend to look at situations like yours from a spiritual perspective.

You are a Christian, and also an intercessor.
So, I'm sure the 'other side' knows this about you, too.

I think many of us today find ourselves in what might be potentially considered 'enemy territory' ...
locations that are not exclusively Christian ... maybe largely not Christian at all.

This is not always 'comfortable' to realize ... but I believe God has us 'planted' in these locations for a reason.
And probably often, the reason is for us 'to pray' for the 'lost' living around us.

Yes, your Protector is the Lord!

And I will pray, that He would place a hedge of protection around you, and resolve your security issues.

Thanks for the advice on locks. I will surely follow it and get the best grade.

And don’t worry, I do have a very secure and sturdy floor to doorknob locking brace for when I am at home.

Thank you very much for your prayers. I have prayed for these people more than once. I have prayed for the Lord’s justice and/or mercy for them whichever he thinks is best.

I have prayed that they will not be able to hurt people or animals. And of course I pray that if it’s possible that they will be led to salvation.
