uh, weren't there more than 1 million causalties of the bomb anyway? So instead of their own people dying, they killed some other people in another country. And thats ok. Because americans don't think their govt is god ordained?

I think they do as well.

The Japanese cowardly sneaked attacked us. The things they did were as bad as anything Hitler and his goons came up with. Just ask the Chinese. They estimated losses on both sides as high as 3 million. There are videos of Japanese women throwing their children off cliffs and then following them rather than being "shamed" by surrendering to "barbarians".

It is always so easy for subsequent generations to criticize the hard choices that their predecessors made. I find it ironic that most people today who have never experienced suffering or loss in any capacity can be so quick to judge those who were in the midst of world turmoil. I'm not necessarily defending the atomic bomb, but it wasn't some trigger happy snap judgement.

I agree. They basically had three choices. Invade, and cost millions of lives. Blockade, and let the war drag on for years and years, potentially costs even more lives. Or use the bomb. We know the results of that decision.

A nuclear bomb has just gone off a few miles from your home. You have exactly 5 minutes before the blast gets to you. Luckily, you have a fallout shelter in your basement! What a coincidence! In that five minutes, you have to grab a few things around the house.

1) You have time to make one call. Who is it to? The person I love most in this world
2) You have time to grab one food and beverage from the fridge, what is it? (something that's in there right now) Jar of almond butter & water
3) You have time to set your DVR to record one show: I wouldn't bother
4) You have time to grab one book off the shelf (you already have a bible in the shelter): His needs, her needs. I'd probably get married if I made it out alive.
5) You have time to message one Facebook/CF friend, who is it: We'd already be on the phone
6) You have time to grab your favorite piece of jewelry/heirloom: My dog, she's more precious than jewelry or heirlooms.
