The word "jeez"

I tend to use the word "jeez" a lot. Is that taking God's name in vain? I know that it's obviously short for "Jesus" but since I'm not saying it fully does that count? I want to change my habits if they are bad. I've said that word since I was a little kid. I just want to make sure I'm not taking His name in vain.

Until now, I did not know that. I don't say it often, but now, will stop saying it altogether.

Lots of people say "Geez Louise." In that case it's derived from "Gee."

First and foremost it is intention. Secondly, it's knowledge. If you didn't mean for it to be bad you're fine. If you didn't know it's a shortened form of Jesus, you weren't being malicious.

However, if you knew it was shorthand, then yes it would be wrong.

I suspected that it was shortened from "Jesus" and only recently fully realized it was. I'll work on not saying it. Thanks
