  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kind of hard to teach someone who sees no future prophecies needed to fulfilled that there are still more to come.
Are you a better teacher than the Jews themselves?

Why Don't Jews Believe In Jesus | The difference between Judaism and Christianity

Why Don’t Jews Believe In Jesus?

JwJs.jpg

Jewish Beliefs About Jesus And Jews For Jesus
For 2,000 years, Jews have rejected
the Christian idea of Jesus as messiah. Why?
It is important to understand why Jews don’t believe in Jesus. The purpose is not to disparage other religions, but rather to clarify the Jewish position. The more data that’s available, the better-informed choices people can make about their spiritual path.

1) JESUS DID NOT FULFILL THE MESSIANIC PROPHECIES

(back)
What is the Messiah supposed to accomplish? The Bible says that he will:
A. Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).
B. Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).
C. Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)
D. Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel, which will unite humanity as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world—on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).

The historical fact is that Jesus fulfilled none of these messianic prophecies.
Christians counter that Jesus will fulfill these in the Second Coming, but Jewish sources show that the Messiah will fulfill the prophecies outright, and no concept of a second coming exists.

Busted! ^_^

There are different forms of "Preterism".

http://www.christianforums.com/t7693276-5/
Full Preterism & scripture about withdrawing

Here is the passage that contains a key idea held to by full preterists.

II Timothy 2

16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
(NKJV)

So here we have a couple of guys teaching an idea which we could anachronistically refer to as a full preterist doctrine, that the resurrection has come already. Maybe they allegoricalized it away in their teaching.

The verses quoted in verse 19, seem to be a reference to Korah's rebellion, and I've the latter quote might be interpreted as 'depart from these wicked men' because the word translated the word translated ''iniquity'' could refer to that set of people and/or things that are characterized by iniquity or wickedness.

So withdraw from these men, just like the Israelites were to withdraw from the rebels so as not to be swallowed up when the ground opened up.

In verse 20 and 21 we see reference to vessels of honor and dishonor. If you had your gold plates and your poop pot in your ancient home, you wouldn't store them together. You wouldn't put your gold plates or your fancy dinner china in the poop bowl.

The vessels of honor are to be cleansed from 'the latter'-- that is the vessels of dishonor. Even so, the saints are to withdraw from men like Hymenaeus and Philetus.

Notice the types and shadows of how the one is a reflection of the other. Notice the palm tree connection, and the rejoicing before the Lord.

Leviticus 23:40; "And you shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord seven days."

John 12:13
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

Revelation 7:9-10 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

There is alot more to the law of Moses than just the outward appearance.

Jesus said judge not by appearances, but judge righteous judgment.

Everything has more than one meaning and can all be going on at the same time.
So while an earthly temple can be rebuilt in Jerusalem in the end days, and we celebrate the annual feasts that are a rehearsal of end time events, we must also remember that we are all temples of God. 1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Do you know of any other Christian denomination that celebrates that feast? Thanks
