Well, Solomon also wrote Ecclesiastes, so apparently he had some of the same thoughts about his own life.

I agree. In studying Ecclesiastes, we see that he even saw that through everything he had built up in his life, etc it was still vanity in the end. (emptiness) So I definitely believe we can draw from his wisdom but in the same instance not follow his personal lead when it comes to idolatry, many wives, etc.
