• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Post something you accomplished today here. It doesn't matter if it was something simple like "getting out of bed" or something difficult like not smoking all day.

this is a brilliant idea maycontainnuts! I have a friend who is a counsellor/social worker who told me that little things are big when you have depression and its good to write a little list at the end of the day of what you have achieved so thanks 4 starting this thread!!!!!!!!!!

It is true! I have recovered from depression but I still frequently have to battle with fatigue. (The fatigue is not nearly as bad as when I was depressed, though). When I was depressed, every day I would wake up and it always felt like I had been hit by a truck or had had several sumo wrestlers sitting on me. Just doing something like taking a shower was exhausting, and some days I didn't even do that

So, making oneself go to an appointment, or work, or class, or just waking up at all are all big accomplishments and steps toward healing during a depression.

I'm always afraid of relapsing, so I try to do at least something every day, especially on the days when I am tired and don't want to do anything. That is my way of "fighting" back, I guess. And concentrating on what I did do rather than what I didn't helps.

I sang at my student concert today and instead of picking out many mistakes, I accepted compliments without coming back with something and recognized that I did a good job. That is big for me.

Today I spent several hours working on homework for two of my classes and I also swam laps for 40 minutes. This isn't really an accomplishment, but I did watch two good movies today during my breaks from my homework: "Michael" (about an angel) and "Regarding Henry" (about a guy who recovers from a brain injury).
