• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

:) Thank you guys for all of your encouragement and kind words!! Yesterday was an off day, but today was much, much better! I got up early enough to drive up to my home school where I left my camera case and then I deposited money in the bank. I paid for the installation and first month's bill for cable Internet.

Then I went out to eat with my boyfriend for lunch! He bought us Chinese, yum!! I went to work and got done a story.

Now I'm going to get a card real quick for a lady I met through a story and drop it off to her. She's celebrating her 99th b-day today! Then I'm going to cover a meeting and that's all for work.

Thanks again you guys for all of your prayers and encouragement! I felt quite tired today, but I just kept going.

Thanks again and let me know how your day went!!!

Also, guys:

After praying to God last night whenever I was feeling quite lazy and didn't want to do anything, he kindly reminded me that it's not how much I do that will earn His love, but that he'll love me anyways, no matter how much or little I do.

That really comforted me. I feel it's not about the NUMBER of things I get done in a day, but how WELL I do them to glorify Him.

Praise the Lord for enabling the Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts at just the right times!

Got up early (5am), did homework, went to class, stayed for an hour after class relearning how to do stuff I forgot how to do because I suck at math, went to the gym, came home, chilled out for a while, did more homework, now I am going to bed.

I forgot to mention that yesterday we almost got into a wreck while we were on the way to my school and afterwards I felt my body and my mind starting to freak out (shaking, nauseous, felt on the verge of crying/hyperventilating, etc) -- however, I managed to stave off the panic attack and that was a big accomplishment because I was able to continue on with my day instead of have it prevent me from going to school. I remember that I immediately got my hands busy with something, started talking to Mom, and all the while mentally talking myself out of the panic attack. One thing that I believe helped me was the fact I actually helped to prevent us from wrecking because I shouted "watch out" and my Mom, who had for whatever reason not seen or at least not reacted to the huge truck that just randomly decided to veer into our lane, reacted by slamming on her breaks -- and we just barely managed not to hit him.

Wow, Melissa. That is great that you helped prevent the wreck and you didn't go into a panic attack. You are doing so good! You're so strong! I wish I had your get-up-and-go and energy. I am not in school right now, but when I do, I hope I can possess your gumption to study and get As on quizzes like I used to. Keep it up! You're doing excellent!

Yesterday was a great day! I got up early, went to a 10 a.m. appointment at college to learn how to put together my portfolios so I can graduate next spring, worked out, went to work, went shopping for the trip to the beach, packed up the cooler and my bag.

Today, I got up early, went to work early and did an interview, cleaned out my car, went to the beach with friends and came home to take a nap cuz I was beat!

I had a really fun last couple of days!

Hey! I saw your page and it looks great! I am trying to design mine. It's a work in progress! I really like the idea of your daily blog of progress. I want to start one, too. I just don't know how to start my own blog. Can you please explain it to me? Thanks! You're doing wonderful in your recovery! You are a true inspiration to me!

This weekend was a really good one. I had lots of energy and seemed to get everything done that I had planned. Saturday, I woke up early, did dishes and laundry, took out the trash, cleaned my bedroom and bathroom. I still have work to do on my bedroom. I also wrote a story for the paper and then relaxed for the rest of the evening. Sunday, I woke up early, went shopping for presents for friends, went to church, went to my boyfriend's house to drop off a card to his brother, went to my pap's house to drop off a card and then to Walmart to buy a b-day gift for my friend and then to her 16th b-day party. I wanted to take my dad out to dinner for Father's Day, however, he was not home when I called him. I feel bad I didn't get to see my dad on Father's Day and he's probably really upset with me, but I will hopefully get to see him tonight to give him his card and take him out to dinner.

Thank you :) I like the colors on your page! To start a blog, go to:

http://www.christianforums.com/blogs

And then just make a new thread. Whatever the title of your thread is, will also be the title of your blog.

BTW, wow, you kicked butt this weekend  lol

I'm sure your Dad will be happy to go out and have his father's day supper tonight.

I don't feel like I got much done this weekend; I did deal with some fatigue, which was frustrating. Today, hopefully I will redeem myself! .....*Hopefully!* At the moment, it is like 11:40am and I am still sucking down coffee  I did get some cleaning done already, though.

Thanks for showing me how to start my blog. I can't wait to start it. I liked your idea about keeping track of everything you are doing for recovery. I, also, can print it out and keep it as a record of how far I've come, or to show to my counselor.

I just spoke with my dad after I got out of work and he wasn't very happy with me. He said me and my brother did not get him anything for Father's Day. We originally were supposed to go to church together because he is back in church. He goes to another baptist church in town, not to mine. I called him a few days ago and he said he was not going to church, but was going to wait until next Sunday so my stepmom could come with us. When I called him tonight, he told me he didn't need to go out to eat because he was on a diet. I could tell he was very upset with me, which made me feel so guilty and bad about being so thoughtless. I was so busy yesterday though. I had to go to my boyfriend's brother's house to give him a card, go up my grandma's to give my pap a card, then go home and get ready for a b-day party, then buy a gift for the b-day party, and then go to the party which lasted about 3 1/2 hours, then grocery shop. I didn't get home until 11. By that time it was too late to call or visit. I did, however, call him as soon as I got out of church because I was going to swing by to give him his card and offer to take him out to eat tonight or tomorrow but he did not answer. Later, I found out when I was visitin my Pap that he was at Value City in Cumberland (about 30 mintues away from hom). I really am upset that he is so mad at me and not being very understanding. Sorry this reply is so long and boring. Please pray my Dad will forgive me.

I will pray that you get to "redeem" yourself, as you say and regain your energy back! Fatigue is a horrible thing but I guess it is a reminder that we do need to slow down sometimes and relax and rest. Life is not about getting things done but finding a balance between making progress and just living.

 Yay! I just started my blog - My "Each Day I'm Closer to Recovery" Journal. Kinda sounds like a weird title, I know, but it's just how I feel - each day I'm a little closer to getting better. Check it out sometime. I will continue to look at yours!! God Bless! Trinity

hi... usually i post on the bipolar or borderline mental health boards, but i thought since i'm usually depressed maybe i could post here too....

today i got up at 9ish and prepped my lesson for tutoring tomorrow. I tutor the SAT to a girl who lives an hour away. I ran into a few friends at the library. and i got tickets for my friends and I to see "The Sound of Music" Friday! (at a local theater) yay!
And I went to an art show downtown.

And I met with a woman at my church who wants to counsel me about some things. And I had prayer group.

Sounds like a good day, eh? Yeah, it was pretty good :).
