The Lord said of Cain, the firstborn son of Adam in Genesis 4:12 “When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.”
Notice how the Lord said Cain (who received a mark) would be a vagabond in the earth. The word vagabond means “ a person who wanders from place to place” and also “to move to and fro, wander (aimlessly), take flight”.

Now listen to what the Lord and Satan said in Job 1:7 “And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

In this we see the same spirit working in Cain, wandering to and fro. This going to and fro was also shown to us in the black bird (raven) in the flood account. Genesis 8:7 “And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.” So you could imagine what spirit the raven represented, and also what Spirit the dove represented. (as the Holy Spirit descended from heaven like a dove on Jesus).

And so based on this wandering spirit, let’s look at a parable Jesus spoke concerning the wicked generation, and the last state of a man. Matthew 12:43-45 “43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Notice the unclean spirit wanders to and fro, seeking rest; just like Cain (who is of that Wicked spirit) and who was also a vagabond in the earth going to and fro (like Satan aka the great red dragon).

Here we have another similitude of the same in Acts 19:13-16 13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.”

Which brings us to another symbolism of the 7 as is also shown here in Revelation 12:3 “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.”

The Lord even caused the rebellious children of Israel to wander in the wilderness of sin until that wicked generation was also consumed as we see in Numbers 32:13 “And the Lord's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the Lord, was consumed.”

Even so it was also with those who rejected the word of the Lord spoken by the prophets. Hosea 9:17 “My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.”

Jude confirms the message of these wicked children, who are like natural brute beasts, those who have gone in the way of Cain, as Jude goes on to say in Jude 1:13 “Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.”

The Lord also said he would send a famine of hearing His word in Amos 8:12 “And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.

Which also gives us a little better insight into what the Lord was saying in Daniel 12:4 “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”

And again here in Daniel 12:9-10 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

So those who wander to and fro are those who are of that same spirit as Cain, raging waves of the sea, tossed about to and fro, children of darkness, a wicked generation who lack understanding in the word of God.

Ephesians 4:14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with everywind of doctrine,by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.

Isn't Jesus and His disciples wanderers too?

Matthew 8:20
Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

Jesus and His disciples constantly went from town to town, house to house, spreading the Good News.

The Great Commission of Jesus was in fact to preach the Good News to the ends of the Earth. In those times, the only way to accomplish that is through long-distance travel over water and land.

Funny you should mention that verse, because I always saw the dove in the flood account as like Gods Spirit being sent forth into the world, as the dove also descended upon Jesus at His baptism.

And you see at first in the flood account the dove found no rest, as Jesus also said he had no place to lay his head, as Jesus also returned unto the Father.

Genesis 8:9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

But the raven on the other hand did not return, he just went to and fro in the earth until the waters were dried up.

A lot of cool signs in the flood story.

Perhaps, the sea represents the world and the raven found the world worthwhile and interesting enough that it did not bother to return to his owner.

The signs you pointed out about the dove reminded me of these verses:

Luke 6:20-22
Looking at his disciples, he said:

“Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.
22 Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.

I believe this all to be in the context of this current life when Jesus spoke of adversities. That we won't find rest until our lives here has ended and has gone back to the Father if we are saved. Because the world that is evil won't give the good guys any rest.

More supporting verses: 1 John 5:19, John 7:7, John 15:19, James 4:4, John 12:25, Matthew 10:39.

Yes, I like to call it the sea of iniquity, which is of the world and under the influence of the spirit of this world. We saw in the Exodus the Lord parting the red sea and the people also wandering through the wilderness of sin.

These natural things were shown to us in scripture to be reflective of the greater spiritual things that were yet to come. Like the spiritual flood that would come out of the mouth of the red dragon trying to consume all flesh.

But the women, being the spiritual Israel (Body of Christ) would be helped to escape these spiritual flood waters.

Revelation 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

That is also why I believe we are shown this verse in Revelation 21:1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."

So that sea of iniquity which has now consumed the world, and all those who are born of the flesh, was already shown to us in a natural way in the days of Noah. But the Lord will remove that sea of iniquity, as he said in Rev 21:1.

And yes, we will find rest, and soon I hope. For we shall also enter into His rest, which was also symbolized in the Sabbath day of rest.

Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

We in this world labor to bring forth fruits of righteousness, and gather the harvest unto the Lord.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

But when the harvest of the great day is done, we also shall enter into that rest with the Lord.

Hebrews 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Jesus and his apostles are wanderers too. Historic Christian art works, scriptures, writings, legends are filled with Christ wandering about the earth in different guises. Matthew 25 is the root of this. But also, so are Old Testament, New Testament typologies & early to later Christian symbolism. Examples: Christ is like a rolling stone, the corner stone of the church, the rock of our salvation. But also a rolling stone that rolls forth into all nations. In the Shepherd of Hermas, in earlier canons, Christ and his apostles are like stones that go down into the spirit prison. (Similitude 9; 1 Peter 3:15-21; 4:5-6; Ephesians 4:7-10).

Christ is like the Good Shepherd, seeking the lost sheep, like Israel, that are likened unto lost sheep, scattered among the nations. Thus, Christ seeks after his lost sheep and bring them back into his fold, from the underworld, and throughout the world.

Christ is like the Gardener, who is not neglectful of his vineyards, which scattered Israel is likened unto, with branches, vines, and roots extending down into the underworld, and throughout the world. One of the many guises Christ wanders the earth as, is that of a Gardner. Christ & his apostles are likened unto a seed planted in the underworld, out of which sprouts his apostles that extend up and out into all nations.

Christ is like the rain, water, rivers & the four rivers of paradise that flow into the four direction to water the whole earth with his gospel, the water of life.

Christ is like the sun, who lights up the underworld, and which light spreads throughout the whole world, like the paschel candle ceremonies, where one candle is lit and the light spreads out from that one source to other candles. You Tube: Come Receive Thee the Light from the Light.

Some of the guises, Christ wanders the earth as, became part of the 6th century, St. Benedict's rules, which were passed down through the centuries, and the days of pilgrimages. Thus, monks were to receive all who come to their monasteries, as if they were Christ himself. Thus, from this & other traditions, derived from Matthew 25, Christ wanders the earth in the guise of a pilgrim, leper, man of sorrows (Isa. 53), wandering child, etc. Like how he appeared to St. Christopher, by a river, seeking to have him bear him on his shoulders, thus his name means Christ-bearer. Or St. Martin, who sees a leper, or poor soul without a coat, so he gives him half of his. Or St. Dorothy, who meets up with the Christ-child in a garden. Or St. Augstine, & others, in different guises, often a small child. He tests their charitable qualities, or lack there of.

These became later Christmas traditions, that of Christkind, Christkindl, Kriss Kringle & Santa Claus. Santa is Latin for female saint, so why isn't Santa Claus, a male, not Santo Claus? The reason being that earlier versions of Santa Claus, are German, derived from their wandering Christ-child traditions, that Christ is, a blond female youth, sometimes an adult, who wander the earth to transform into angelic fairy type female youths, according to legends & modern customs. So, it's not official doctrine, it's what happened in later centuries, when the early Christian doctrine of Christ's world wide treks got legendized. Even early anti-Christians poked fun if this, complaining that Christ couldn't stay put, he wanders about! Christkindl is German for Christ-child, so earlier Santa Claus' show this gift giver as a blond female youth wandering around during Christmas time as a tester & gift giver. Example, Strand Magazine, Jan. 1891. St. Nicholas, is said to wander around Russia with the Christ-child. In Christmas lore, the Christ-child takes on different shapes, sizes, ages, has wings, to fly around the world with, rather than the later magical slay. This wanderer is female, while in other cases, male who knows who's been good or bad. She can appear as an old woman, like in Beauty & the Beast. He/she thus leaves gifts in stockings & shoes. Goes through the key hole, & later down the Chimley. Candles in windows, light his way. In Finland, pine boughs thrown down, create a huge green carpet for him to walk on. German traditions: Letters, placed in window sills are sprinkled with sugar, when the candles there flickers, they make the letters sparkle, so as to catch the eye of the wandering Christ-child. The wandering Christ-child turned spider webs on Christmas trees to threads of gold & silver, tinsel! Christkindl often wanders with a Santa Claus type figure, St. Nick, Father Christmas, etc., & is pulled on a slay, rides a deer, or donkey, looks through windows to see if the kids are asleep yet. In art she's often seen bringing gifts & Christmas trees, or decorating it, with angelic fairy type helpers. But these are just legends, which aren't doctrines. But, they show what happened to earlier beliefs, when they were legendized in historic Christendom.

That was beautiful, thank you!
