I shouldn't say this...but if you really want to make a splash, make your signature, "Looking up. Praying with the Saints." I swore that place off for Lent last year but from time to time, I "drop" in.

You guys are appealing to my twisted sense of humor! I have perused RR a little and I noticed a couple of cute 'Rapture Ready' slogans on smileys and thought I might offer up a couple 'Catholic Alternatives'.

Since I'm not able to post images right now, I can't give the desired effect, but go to my gallery under my name and see if any of these will work for you.

Like I say, a little twisted, but I get tired of the jokes only going in one direction.

Geez, I should keep track of the number of times I ask the same question over and over again in the KJV-only threads.

It's pretty simple -- "If the KJV translators did not know that they had produced an infallible translation (as evidenced by their preface which states that no translation is perfect), how did anyone find out that they had done so?"

I have started including this at the bottom of every post I make responding to the KJV-onlyists...but I doubt I will ever get a response, just repeated "NIV challenges", "Things that are different are not the same", "NIV removed 500 verses", etc.

Today someone was saying yet again that marginal notes are divisive and confuse the word of God. I said that the original 1611 KJV had marginal notes -- of course that comment was ignored and another webpage copy-and-paste was put up there.

Goes much further back than that KC. I heard of Hoopies when I was a kid (and you are so much younger) and they were older cars probably out of tune.   Never heard it applied to Cadillacs, but maybe the definition changed.

These KJV threads are so repetitive -- everyone uses the same three webpages and just copies and pastes.

I've gotten a whole bunch of stock, normal replies just today:

1. By using a modern version I am "trusting in men's scholarship" instead of trusting in God.
2. It was suggested that I convert to Christianity.
3. "Things that are different are not the same".

Blah. Where did this belief come from anyway?

I have an idea.

How about we all do one simple thing: Whenever someone is accused of "twisting scripture", or told "I hope you repent", or anything like that, let's just hit the report button.

Every time.

Maybe after a few warnings, some of these people will give up. If not, CF can shake the dust off its sandals and ban 'em.

My standard reply for people who think the King James Version is the only, infallible Word of God:

So the ancient Jews had erroneous versions, then, huh? Theirs was in Hebrew.

Not to mention the Bibles printed in German, Italian, French, Russian, Chiunese, Arabic, Hindi, Apache, Japanese, Polynesian, Swahili........

All false. They're not in King James English, the "only true Word of God", you see......
