As many know, I am not really a proponent of paraphrase type bibles and I usually go for more literal versions of the scriptures.
That said though, I recently came across a bible called 'the Voice'. I actually like it and here are some of the reasons:
YHVH - the anglicised tetragrammaton. Rather than being treanslated as LORD (in capitals as some translations do), or Adonai or haShem, this one translates it as 'the Eternal'.
Christ is actually translated rather than transliterated and is moved over into English as 'Anointed', 'Anointed One' and where the context fits, 'liberating king'.
The layout is great as well as it is set out like a screenplay.
Don't get me wrong, I would never use it for serious study but it is a really great bible for anyone coming to the scriptures for the first time.
