People and organisations (including govt organisations) are allowed to have correspondence with Social Media owners and are allowed to give a heads up on various misinformation that is doing the rounds.

Except - it was NOT misinformation - 51 Intelligence agents lied - and it was not Russian disinformation.

Now that the suppressed information about it has been revealed to be accurate, it became an even bigger surprise after the election was over.

The laptop’s provenance was suspect from the beginning.
“Images” of emails, (instead of actual emails with headers intact).
The spin of “oh lookie, the real ‘crime family’ was the Bidens all along!”

The cynicism that the electorate would be stupid enough to swallow this “if only Twitter hadn’t suppressed it!”, is depressing.

The problem is that the government colluded with a private business to suppress information from the people. It is a First Amendment violation for the govt. to do that. James Baker's involvement implicates that collusion.
Mark Zuckerberg has already implicated the FBI's collusion with Facebook. Before that, Biden's chief of staff did so: Exclusive: White House working with Facebook and Twitter to tackle anti-vaxxers

"tackle antivaxxers" or "tackle misinformation? The former, I could see being problematic. The latter is, AFAIC, their obligation.

Oh look at that! Outside of the headline it clearly indicates its the latter.

talking about transgender, gay folks? Discussing the belief of social injustices? No freedom of speech for this issue.

Protecting medical lies? THIS is crucial to the universe.

I've seen where FBI approached and said there was Russian disinformation going around.
But I haven't seen where FBI said specifically that the Biden Hunter Laptop story was Russian disinformation

You seem to be under the assumption that when the government went to those private entities, they were simply making friendly suggestions to those entities as to what content should be allowed, and what shouldn't be.

Do you actually have any evidence that that is not the case?

The Social media organisation can decide for themselves what to do. They are not being coerced.

It's surprising to me just how many people are cool with government agencies regulating public discourse under the guise of suppressing 'misinformation/disinformation'. I suspect maybe they'll change their minds some day when the power shifts to the other side (as it always does) and that government has "correspondence" with social media companies too suppress things that they disagree with. Or maybe not. Maybe people really are that trusting of their government agencies now-a-days. Hard to tell any more what's real.

The title says "Intelligence experts refuse to apologize"
But then the article starts off with
"But the 51 former “intelligence” officials"

And your claim was that the government lied and put pressure on the private social media entities.

Also within the article it says
James Clapper signed a letter saying that the laptop “has the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

So James didn't say he has evidence that this was Russian information, he is saying it has the classic earmarks. Which is very different.

It seems to me that James and the other 50 people/citizens are well within their first amendment rights to write a letter and offer their opinions and it seems obvious that they weren't doing this in an official government capacity and nor did they have power over anyone that read the letter.

I fail to see the problem here, and actually I feel quite mislead. This has nothing to do with government allegedly lying and coercing and covering stuff up for Biden.

It's not an opinion. It's a position. I asked Aldebaran for evidence from 'the Twitter files' that demonstrates the government has done something that conflicts with my position. He declined to do so. You are welcome to do so.

It is about the White House having connections with the largest social media company on earth and shaping what is allowed to be posted - having a role in banning thousands of political opponents and even the US's oldest publication - all to protect Joe.

Musk in revealing the actual private communications is quickly becoming hated because there are people who do not like truth spoken to power, when their guy is in power.

I explained what revenge porn is - it isn't complicated. It is either naked or sexual pictures of someone posted on the internet - which includes Twitter - without the subject's permission. The pictures may have been taken with permission but posted without. I read that many pictures of HB in compromising positions from the supposed laptop or hard drives were posted on Twitter and that the Biden campaign requested that they be removed. You stated that this was 1000% inaccurate. Are you sure about that?

There have been many frivolous and unsupported lawsuits submitted. Just because a lawsuit exists, it does not mean that there is any supporting evidence.

Many on this forum are claiming that Biden and the government went to these social media companies and forced them to suppress certain content. I am just asking people to provide evidence or links to articles that present the evidence. I'd be keen to know, and I'd be just as shocked as the rest of you if only I could see evidence supporting the claim.

The stuff that Elon has released, the stuff that Zuckerburg has said, none of it even hints of the government coercing them to shut down any content.
At the moment, the claim seems to be baseless. Yet again, just baseless drama coming from the far right drama club.
