Your claim is false, the largest sentence presented was 6 months, and the largest fine was $10,000 a massive fine in anybody bookThe largest sentence was 1/3rd of the maximum (120 days out of 365).

Some of the larger fines were imposed at the request of the DOJ because the defendants were raising money on their crimes. The $525 "base" level is a $500 restitution to the Architect of the Capitol for repairs and cleanup and a $25 "court fee".
