What do you require in research to qualify it as reliable?
Because if the answer is "the research must agree with my pre-existing convictions", well, that makes it rather difficult to have anything like a real discussion with you

Barfiend certainly appears to be arguing from a position of intolerance to me, he certainly seems more than happy to use tactics usually associated with emotive propaganda and vilification, e.g. "homosexuality and paedophilia are the same".
What would it require for you to consider someone's discussion points to be a matter of hate and bigotry, rather than reasoned opinion?

I just figured it out !!
If God wanted us to be gay, he would have only created one sex... and we would all be homosexuals.
Since God created two sexes, and since only a male and female combination and not a same sex combination creates children, then homosexuality is in fact a misfiring mentalism...
From the surface of the eyeball, an image is created in the brain via a chemical reaction, whence it is interpreted. If you have a same sex attraction, also in the mind, then that is a mental misfire.

To put God in a box is to say that he has limitations. Anything is possible with God. Jesus gave us some clues about God's nature, but it was just the tip of the iceberg.
We will only truly learn about God the day we die and get to stand in front of him. I've got a million questions for him. Luckilly I'll have eternity to ask them.

Well I was joking. But God is limited...read your bible. For one he can't lie, he can't swear for a higher being than himself and he can't be illogical. I didn't put him in a box, God is just a resonable God. I'm happy about that actually, I could imagine how chaotic it would be if he wasn't.

What I do get is that we have a difference in opinion over what is normal and aceptable and what is not and that my opinion is more in line of common sense, God's Law, nature, and social norms. What is your opinion in line with:
"I am sexually attracted to men, therefore it is acceptable to God, ipso facto."

I don't wish to comment on the science of this issue, but I will second the notion that "sexual orientation" can be and often is an issue of choice and psychological adaptation.
For example, people often times form fixations on certain fantasies that intrigue them sexually. Such fantasies can be as simple and "innocent" as colors, clothing and scents, or as "strange" and peculiar as pain, excrement, etc.
An individual I know, who has not ever considered himself "gay" or a "homosexual," engaged in all heterosexual relationships for many years. Then, suddenly, he entered into a homosexual relationship. At the time he found it exciting and interesting, but now finds it "disgusting" and repulsive. He cannot fully explain what happened to him or why, but he no longer has such attractions nor struggles with anything but memories of past events.
We cannot know the reasons why people turn out the way they do. Why does one person do one thing and another something entirely different? Nature/nurture debates continue to rage on. Regardless, we do not overly concern ourselves with the sources of our sins in this manner, but we concern ourselves with stamping them out for the glory of God.
Why spend excessive amounts of time debating where the concept of "stealing" comes from and why? We suffice it to say that it is wrong, and to stop it is what glorifies God. Likewise, the same is true of homosexual behaviors.
Most men struggle with pornography attraction for the majority of their lives. Do we rationalize this? Do we justify it? I would hope not. Instead, we seek better and more effective ways to fight it.
If the wolves are coming in and eating the sheep, what do you do? You build the best defenses you can to keep them out. Perhaps you even go on the offensive a little (and that's okay, since these wolves are hypothetical and for them to go extinct is good).
So build a defensive barrier around your life that sin has to look hard and long for the little cracks in your defense. And, when sin has found them, you must master it! For sin lurks at your door and waits to overpower you, but you must master it.

Saying "it's wrong because it doesn't result in children" doesn't make sense.... posting on CF also doesn't result in children. Does it mean that it's wrong? I mean, I don't see any logical reasons to restrict that reasoning only to sexual acts.
