The trend of self promotion.

I notice that with social media so prevalent that Christian leaders are presenting themselves to the public with slick professional 'Hollywood' style images that supposedly represent Christlikeness.

Jesus chose at the pinnacle of His earthly ministry to ride into Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey.

Is this modern trend a misrepresentation of what is real success ?

Are we being encouraged to judge by appearances ? (which Jesus didn't do)

Or do we feel safe in a church with plenty of flash cars as if true spirituality reflects in possessions.

Sadly it seems that salesmanship and upbeat promotion is being used to attract folks to church and they can completely miss the real Jesus who is more likely to be found with the poor, blind and lame.

For where I live, promotion means false doctrine. The Gospel needs no adornment, no fancy clothing. The truth is powerful, but it is undesirable by the sin-nature infused populace. To make it more desirable is to compromise.

The flashy light show is the Angel of Light masquerading as the truth, and to promote the self is to deny the supremacy of Christ.

Soldiers do not have to promote their ideology to their enemies, or to those they have conquered. They only have to show superior power than their adversaries to make them submit to their leader.
