It doesn't matter how often you repeat your special pleading, it will never become a convincing argument.
I would imagine not.

Not as long as it's considered "special pleading," anyway.

Academia has more explanations and terms for what we believe than Carter has liver pills.

Not necessarily. Those are just the oldest ones we've found.

There is evidence of art dating back 700,000 years, but IIRC it is non-figurative art.
Well that takes 700,000 off of 6 million. We were still slow learners

We're beginning to. You show genuine interest in learning about the theory of evolution and haven't shown the usual hostility. Welcome to the forum. ;)
I am having to think about a lot of issues in light of the evidence

Be careful, chief.

Paul warned about putting too much stock in some things:

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

1. Philosophy
2. Deceit
3. Tradition
4. Elements

Philosophy being a form of religion,
"Vain deceit" would require the proper bait,
"Tradition" is another word for doctrine...
And I can see where elements would a problem... especially molybdenum; it's always been a little sketchy.

You do realise homo sapiens has only been around about 300,000 years? That means our ancestors were making progress before we came on the scene.

Yes but there was an explosion of knowledge 40,000 to 50,000 years ago so there is debate about when our ancestors became human

What makes you think there was an explosion of knowledge 40,000 years ago? And what does that have to do with our ancestors "becoming" human (genus homo) 2 million years ago?

Or what a human being is? The Tasmanian natives
were still in the paleolitic, old stone age, when
Europeans arrived.

Progress since long before people was lizards.

I wonder why (some) people try so hard to deny
their ancestors and their accomplishments?

Seems profoundly disrespectful
