The third temple - Should Christians support this initiative ?

Modern Judaism as a religion is anti-Christ.

Yet it seems many believers are drawn towards supporting the building of the third temple as if it will hasten the coming of Jesus.

I am guessing that when it is built, believers will not only support it but there will be those who will convert to Judaism, failing to discern the true spirit behind it.

Future temple priests (in regalia) who are descendants of Aaron, recently went to the temple mount and prayed blessing in the Stone which supported the Arc of the Covenant.

With the likely expulsion of an Arab presence on the mount during the present war, plans for the temple, which are well advanced, will be rapidly implemented.

Good question - Maybe in the future there will be a massive repentance among Jews but this has not yet happened. Meantime to support unredeemed Zionism is a big mistake. Not that in ethical terms, Israel is the worst player in the present conflict, but we are seeing a proud unrepentant people with plenty of human wisdom, and God given talent, refusing Jesus as King and trying to recreate a covenant that God terminated at the Cross.

Please understand that I have a deep love for Jewish people and the return to the land is part of God's plan, but resurrecting Judaism with the sacrificial system which was a shadow, and still refusing the light is spiritually evil, deceptive and dangerous.

The Late Arthur Katz used to say that given these circumstances the Jews may need to be expelled from the land before finding repentance, may be so, but maybe the two witnesses will bring them to their senses and repentance will come without that needing to take place?

I am musing and have no authority to say how things will pan out, but I think these matters need to be discussed as the implications of misplaced loyalties are very severe if we end up supporting a false religion unwittingly.

Oh my goodness YES! I suppose the New Testament spirit of support for the unredeemed Jew is on a painfully short leash. Sensitive, but short and guarded. Christ is the new temple. When He said He would rebuild the temple in three days, He was referring to himself.

I think a third temple is a waste of time. As far as that goes, without wishing to be offensive, Israel has served its purpose.

What we see today is a political entity and it has no theocratic authority. The Jews themselves are divided over which form Judaism should take (so what's new?).

I think what will be will be. I don't think the Jews will be Christianized and then build the Temple. But as a Jewish religion rebuilding the Temple is a central part and will always be aimed for.

The 3rd Temple is suppose to be built before Christ retirns and the ceremonies will once again happen. That may certainly be the case with the present Jews wanting to do exactly this.

Who knows how God works. It may be that the building of the Temple actually leads many Jews back to Christ without many them realising it. It will certainly be a day in our hiostory that the 3rd Temple is built.

But the main problem I see is how they get around the fact that the Muslims occupy the very site for the 3rd Temple. How for example the Dome of the Rock is removed without massive conflict breaking out.

Maybe the present conflict will lead to a change of occupation of the mount. Maybe a deal can be done where both the Muslims and Jews are accommodated. It would not be surprising the way things have changed recently around the world.

If some sort of peace can come to the conflict as was happening with the Abraham Accord where Arab nations were willing to accept Isreal and reject terrorism this could lead to negociations between Jordan and Isreal and others. A central issue to negociations is Jerusalem and the Temple mount.

It may be that a wave of compromise for peace comes over the world for a while after everyone is sick of all the conflicts and people are ready to change things.

This is not what the Scripture teaches.

Paul says this about Jews in Romans 11 28 'As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers.' The Jews are belowed by God.

I never seen a nation, especially this small, be attacked by it's enemies and yet survived. Look what happened in 1948 after Israel was established again. They got attacked by their enemies straight away, despite having almost no army, weak soldiers who just returned from Holocaust, 2 planes and 5 tanks and they then defeated a larger enemy so many times. Even today, they are blessed by God, because He is with them.

The ignorance of some Christians of God's plan for Israel is astonishing. I hear nonsense such as Church replaces Israel all the time. Or rhe Israel today has nothing to do with OT Israel. Nonsense. Jews are supposed to envy Christians. Telling them nonsense like this will never make them envy us, and they will never be interested in the Gospel.

A true Bible-believing Christian knows that the 3rd Temple will be defiled by the AntiChrist.
According to the prophecy of an early saint - Hippolytus - the 3rd Temple will be the AntiChrist's gift to the Jewish people.

These are the end times and, as such, we should be praying for more time so that more people will have an opportunity to be saved and not be eager to see the 3rd Temple built.

A couple points.

Everything is anti-Christ that is not pro,-Christ. Judaism is not a standalone in this category. Just wanted to point this out.

Also, Arabs will regain control over the Temple Mount. That is the only way to keep peace with the Arabs, at least for now.

I do not claim to know what the future holds but no current leader will do this. Not Trump or Netanyahu anyway, the Temple Mount is a completely separate issue from whether Hamas, the PA, or Fatah regains their power over the Arabs living in Palestine.

I disagree with all physical temple building (horrifying heresy), and stand against any efforts. I agree with you here. We should be outspoken against such a blasphemy.
