Does anyone own this game? Bleh. I haven't gotten to play it yet, because a little spinning CD icon keeps coming up and the game never loads. Anyone know how to fix this? And is it even worth fixing? =) God bless.

Indeed, it's very true, I'm seeing. I got a tech support email from them that included a new .exe file for the game. I did everything the dude told me to, game still doesn't work. I'm starting to get unhappy with the game.

You need to download the patch, and I mean you need to download the patch. That makes it a lot less buggy. And I must warn you: you need a thorough knowledge of the D&D 3E rules to play this. If you don't have a good background knowledge of D&D, you're going to be overwhelmed. It's also a very difficult game. But, if you push through, it's a very, very good title.

As for your problem, what exactly is going wrong? Also, what kind of PC do you have? Are your drivers up-to-date? There's an awful lot of things that could be causing your problem.

My brother bought it months ago. He hasn't even opened the box to play it and he won't let anyone else play it either.

My PC is a Compaq Presario 5000 running XP as the OS. I don't know about my drivers. Haven't learned that much yet in PCs.

Unfortunately, that doesn't tell me much. Have you got the patch?

No, I don't have the patch. I took it to school and the game ran perfectly. It's almost identical to my home computer, though school runs XP Pro and I run Home. I'll try downloading the patch.

Can you elaborate on that Dracon? I run Pro on my computer at my parents house and Home on my computer at school. And yet, I run intensive games and host heavy-load servers at school with no problem - Halflife 2, CS: Source hosting 14 players, Warcraft 3 with full settings hosting MP games... Plus it crashes... never.

Last time I checked, Home ran slower, was less efficient, and less customizable since a bunch of things are automated and can't be changed.

As for efficiency and customization - that might be true if you're talking about the built-in functionality, but most people who need that sort of customization and efficiency simply know not to use the built-in apps. I have a half-dozen apps built by other companies to allow me to do what I need to do to keep everything running tip-top shape. It's nothing that really matters in the long run.
