Here is a Bible truth you won't find taught in most Churches. Per Jesus' 7 Messages to the 7 Churches in Revelation, only with 2 Churches was the subject mentioned.

First a question. Did our Lord Jesus mean a literal 'synagogue' when He mentioned the phrase "synagogue of Satan"?

Rev 2:9
9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

KJV

Rev 3:9
9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

KJV

No, He did not point to any specific literal synagogue with that.

He was pointing to a 'people'. And those people are ones who claim... to be Jews, but are not. He did not mean that just spiritually either.

1 Chron 2:55
55 And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
KJV

The Kenites were a people that dwelt in the lands of Canaan. They are listed with the Canaan nations at the end of Genesis 15. They were foreigners, not of Israel. Yet there they are, as scribes among Israel. It's also interesting to note, that in 1 Chron.4, Jabez was listed among the genealogy of Judah, yet his ancestry is not shown there, while all the others born of Judah there do show their lineage of Israel. What happened long ago was, that some of the nations of the Canaanites crept in among Judah and Israel early in their history.

In Deuteronomy 20, God told Israel when He led them into the lands of Canaan, to literally wipe out seven specific nations in the land, to leave alive nothing that breatheth, even to not take their cattle. It was because of all vile paganisms those people were following, literal sex orgies in the name of religion and false idols which are no gods. Whatever you can imagine, that's what they were doing. And God told Abraham He gave them time to repent. For the nations outside those lands, God told Israel to go and try to make peace.

But Israel failed in destroying those seven Canaanite nations. In Judges 2 & 3, God asked Israel why they disobeyed Him in that? So He said He would allow those Canaanites to dwell among Israel, to test them with, to see if they would follow Him, or not. Thus the crept in unawares among Israel that the Book of Jude speaks of, and the "synagogue of Satan" idea our Lord Jesus mentioned.

In Joshua 9, some of the Canaanites, out of fear of being destroyed by Israel because God was with them, they sought to hide their identity, and dressed in old clothes and got rotten food, and acted like they were from a far away land and needed help. They came to Joshua and made a pact, and Joshua took the oath to allow them to come in among Israel. But one of Israel looked in their baggage and noted they were actually Canaanites trying to hide their identity. But too late, Joshua had already made a pact with them. So they were made bondservants to Israel.

In 1 Kings 9, there they still were, bondservants to Israel. They later crept into the priesthood over time (Ezra 2). They became the Nethinims (temple servants).

Then also, because Edom (Esau's people) refused Israel passage when on their way to the lands of promise, God ended the nation state of Edom. Many of the Edomites became Jews. Even king Herod who sought to kill our Lord Jesus as a child, was actually born of Edom yet became a Jew, and was appointed king by the Romans.

Per the Jewish historian Josephus, some of the high priests of Israel later one were not even born of Israel. They crept in, which is the subject of Jude 1:4. This is the real meaning of Paul's warning about the wolves in sheep's clothing sneaking into Christ's Church. It is meaning of our Lord's parable of the tares of the field, the tares representing the children of darkness sowed by the devil. Thus the "synagogue of Satan" phrase is not really about a certain physical synagogue on earth, but the whole matter of the creeping in of God's enemies in among His people, of both Israel and Christ's Church. And it will continue all the way up to the time of Christ's return. Then... like the end of Zechariah 14 declares, there will no more be the Canaanite in the house of The LORD.

Did our Lord Jesus mean a literal 'synagogue' when He mentioned the phrase "synagogue of Satan"?

Who do we find in a "synagogue"?

1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1Jn 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
