The speed isn't dependent on your connection speed (unless there are a lot of images). If the wait is near 2 minutes just to see the beginnings of a page, the bottleneck is at the server.
CF.com is pretty slow, but it is rather fast considering its large user base. Sometimes the parsing is slow; other times the images take forever to load. lol PHP can't scale.

The slowest site I have ever been to has to be MSN.

As for this site, it loads fairly quickly, but the sluggishness could be the part of the server, the sheer number of people visiting it, and other factors.

CF has always been fairly fast for me, but maybe that's because I have dialup and am used to websites being slow. I also have stripped out all the equipment and character icons and junk.

I think CF has slowed significantly with all the new stuff they keep adding (I would rather just have a fast forum site than a slow forum/bible/chat/etc. portal), but basically any website that uses Flash takes the cake.

you can disable most of that extra stuff to make it load faster. I have mine as stripped down as possible
