Really, Red? It seemed good from what I could tell in The Spoony One's review of it years ago. But unfortunately I am younger than that particular old-school era of role-playing games, so I couldn't prove to have the gumption to get past the first five minutes of Ultima 3 without hitting a dead end. Ah, well, I just came in at a later, less primitive time, when the SNES days of rich, varied soundtracks and stories able to consist of more than a page's worth of dialogue in RPG's were in full swing. I'm sure I would have liked Ultima were I more grounded in that time, though.

So, is it possible to worship Christ at the same time as playing a great game?

I guess if so, it's in a small way. Perhaps I am doing just that when I opt for the choices I personally see as the more ethical ones in the games I play. I figure, if the stuff happening in this game could somehow happen to me in real life where I believe in Christ, then I'd be honoring Him and His sacrifice for me at the cross in "doing the right thing". Who knows?

Caaaan't say I'd go so far as to be playing a Nintendo DS in the middle of church, though ....

Oh, man. This question takes me back to the old days of my posting on forums-- video game forums were my first, and this topic was heavily dealt with in the days of Halo and Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay by all my XBOX fanboys, long before PS3 and X360.

I personally think there a great many ways to worship Him beyond just church/praise/bible study. Not sure I'd put average video games in that category; usually they require a lot of focus, and often don't bring out the most positive thoughts from you. I guess it depends on how you play, what you play, and what your mindset is. Something with an uplifting story, positive morality, etc... Maybe.

Well, I have one of only two games I know of that I want......

Fallout 4..... looks like there goes free time for awhile.

My cousin-in-law (if that's what you call the guy who married your cousin) just announced on FB that he got Fallout 4 and now he wouldn't be seen for quite a while ... interestingly when he'd normally be at work, so now I wonder if his comment about "suddenly feeling too sick for work after buying this game" was a joke or not.

Yes some people do that. Me, its priorities. Yes, its tempting to revert to childhood and play the game nonstop.... but if you can't get done what you gotta do so you can enjoy the fun time and "deserve" it because you got the stuff you had to do out of the way.... then you have a problem.

I WILL be spending a lot of time on this game, no doubt...... but.... it wont be time that I have to be getting something done. Adult Toro has power over immature playful Toro.... you just don't see adult Toro unless he has to show up.

As for my gaming right now, I began Tales of Destiny 2 a while ago. I just discovered this time around that there is actually a "hard mode" for battle difficulty, so because I'm hardcore and THAT'S HOW I ROLL , I'm going with that this time. I remember liking at least three of the four main protagonists, so that's a huge plus. 'Guess I'm just stuck in the oldies area of PS1, even today when everyone's in line for the AAA titles coming out on PS4 and XBox One. But I still say in general they don't make RPG's now like they used to.=P

A lot of people take off work for games like Fallout and Dragon Age. I didn't for Fallout 3-- too much gore-- not a fan of blowing heads off of bodies in slow motion.
Me, neither. I don't need my deaths to be graphic or brutal in a game, personally. It just doesn't make me feel like much of a hero.

I prefer more of the sling-magic-fireballs-at-nightmarish-monsters-and-make-them-disappear-in-an-angry-death-growl-and-explosion-of-light kind of violence.

I don't care for the body parts and all that flying around either, but it doesn't really phase me either. When they make games more real looking.... then it might be a deterrent, but Fallout hasn't ever been known for impeccable graphics

Its no worse than the crazy Japanese cartoons where someone slices an enemy into a million pieces and blood splatters all over.

Hence why, like I said, I hate about 95% of the anime i've seen. Their capacity for violence is ridiculous to me, as well as the ecchi and other uncomfortable schlock.

Played through System Shock 2 with my friend Lantis this weekend for the first time ever, which is an old game that is like a precursor to Bioshock, pretty much from every aspect of storytelling.

You play some nameless space marine soldier guy who suddenly wakes up to find everyone on his ship has gone insane and turned into monsters, and meanwhile there's two primary villains in the background trying to get him to perform their unique biddings and clashing with each other over what is a better way to evolve humanity - to converge all into one fleshly mind of carnal greatness (or something, I don't know) or to destroy all living flesh and convert the humans to cold, unfeeling (therefore perfect) machines.

So they're quite frankly both wrong ... and weird. Thus, I rebel against both in the end and destroy them.
