  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A Greek Scholar who developed theories on Music and Math, He created a Cult of thinkers that started their own city in Egypt devoted entirely to Scholarship. His theory (pythagorean theory)a^2 + b^2= C^2 was actually used to define musical scales, I could go on he's a very interesting historical figure.

Hippasus of Metapontum, born circa 500 B.C. in Magna Graecia, was a Greek philosopher. He is the disciple of Pythagoras to whom is attributed the discovery that the square root of 2 is irrational. After the number was revealed to be irrational, the Pythagoreans killed Hippasus, not wishing to believe this fundamental number could fail to be a ratio of integers.

He was also noted as an early experimenter in acoustics and resonance. Few of his original works now survive.

by Holiday do you mean Vacation? I went to a Cake concert in Minneapolis with a bunch of friends. We spent half a day walking around the mall where they filmed "Mallrats" shouting at kids to "Get off the escalator!" The highlight of the trip was we ate at a place called Brits. A British pub typ place. The food was amazing, and I had heard English food wasn't very good. I had something called a pasty. On the Roof they had lawn bowling set up. I had a beer called Old Speckled Hen that wasn't too bad. We all shared desserts. There was bread pudding and ice cream made with a little Guinness that was unbelievable. All in All an excellent road trip.
