My friend watched "Shark week" on tv and wrote this and then I "rewrote" it to show him how I would have worded it:
the shark
hes not seen from the surface, like a shadow in the night.
glidding through the ocean alert and ready to bite.
his prey is unsuspecting as he attacks from below.
a frenzy suddenly ensues as the blood begins to flow.
after the meal, he smells his next prey from a mile or two.
this time the prey is a slow swimmer and breathes air.
i think this sounds a little like you!

like a shadow in the night
flying through the currents
her fluid dance in flight
her prey are unsuspecting
her attacks are from below
she knows before she knows you
her blood begins to flow
feast, and after feast
always knowing her next prey
she can smell them (maybe sense them)
a mile or two away
and now, just someone slower
mere mortal made of flesh
and like some-thing familiar,
their bodies briefly mesh.
