I saw an ad for this movie, it said it was based on a newberry award winning book, from the makers of Bridge to Terabithia.
I was wondering if anyone read the book, and if it was good? I am interested in seeing this movie, but I hated Bridge to Terabithia because it was such a tear-jerker. Does anyone know if this movie is a general feel-good fantasy adventure or another tear-jerker like Terabithia?

I saw the movie today. It was not a tear jerker.
I would recommend reading the book. The movie was so-so.

I haven't read the book, but I saw the movie and I liked it. It wasn't the all-time best fantasy movie but it was good. Granted I may have just thought it was good 'cuz Ian McShane was in it

I thought the movie was horrible. It was fun to watch though. The book I read when I was much younger and back then apart from the Magic Compass that was my favorite book.
