When I think of writing stories set in the far future, like Star Trek is, I wonder if Jesus' return can fit with settings of that sort. It seems like there are so many possibilities that we've only begun to explore that in a way it would be sad if Jesus returning soon puts an end to those possibilities. Would it make sense for Jesus to wait many more thousands of years to return, or perhaps to return but then for the Millennium to be a long time period where things go on as they are now only with evil restrained?

At times I wonder if a second big bang produces the new heavens and earth. And all the end-time prophecy yet to be fulfilled happens all at once in those parameters. The Millennium is a false doctrine of the Pharisees so it would be excluded. But the resurrection, rapture, and all else would take place instantaneously on the last day as stated in scripture.

Nope , not gonna happen and we're alredy in the end of age so that's most likelly what it looks like.
And in the end we will live in a city which is literally cube , like fish in aquarium.

Replying on an old thread, does that annoy you?

If Jesus cuts short all those awesome possibilities, I don't think it makes sense to assume that it will be sad or disappointing by missing out on something.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, ...

If we can dream big writing and reading sci-fi stories (I like some sci-fi), then God can dream even bigger with the way He actually creates the New Heavens and New Earth.

Have you ever read the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis?
I think something like the very end of the last book in that series has barely scratched the surface of the wonderful aweinspiring things God will make.

The new creating will most certainly not be boring what ever it is, and something tells me we won't be spending all of eternity sitting on a cloud playing a harp.

Does it strike you as odd that we are often more interested in exploring and learning about the created universe than about the Creator who imagined and designed it?
