To use your own words, you tell me what the lamp is
Well when I asked you what scriptures were saying you asked me to start off, so over to youWhy don't we let God's WORD tell us *PROVERBS 6:23; PROVERBS 13:19. What do you think these scriptures are saying?
I don't think there is much righteousness in demanding of others what you do not demand of yourself where the law is concerned. Jesus called it hypocrisy. No lamp or oil in hypocrisy is thereIt is not very hard read the scriptures.
PROVERBS 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
PROVERBS 13:9 The light of the righteous rejoices: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.
The road that is dark and narrow is the Christian walk if we have no light and no lamp then you will be lost in the way (the Wicked). The wicked have no lamp representing God's WORD and the 10 commandment. The righteous represent those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD.
Good night my friend no more time for games
For sin shall no longer be your master for you are not under law but under grace Rom6:14
.
I don't think there is much righteousness in demanding of others what you do not demand of yourself
Just so long as you do not water down the ten commandments and accept, according to your stated belief your thoughts can send you to hellWe can read two verses at a time from Romans 6... in fact 5.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! 16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness
Depends on if you just read the letter or understand the message contained in it. Two different thingsI don't think the Bible is as difficult to read as you propose.
Pretty much my personal experience. God is merciful to those who truly seek Him. God bless you.I do actually understand the mentality here. People believe they are sola scripturists who stand implacably on the words of the bible. It is inerrant, and everything in it must be accepted. And they believe, only they and their denomination stands full square on the letter of the bible(or them and denominations closely aligned to them in doctrine) Indeed, I grew up in such a church(non sda) And there is much criticism of other denominations who it is felt do not totally adhere to what is written as they do. Many in other churches see this as arrogance. My church was considered as such when I was young.
The problem is, you cannot just read the literal words of partial scripture and understand the full message in the bible. The bible was not meant to be understood that way. The message is inerrant, but you will never fully understand that message if you just concentrate on the letter itself. You are left with at best a shallow understanding of scripture. When I look back now to when I had that mentality, I can testify that was true in my own life, as well as those in the church I was a member of. Yet, as people do today, I thought I belonged to the church closest to the church of the new testement. Such churches, in effect preach righteousness of obeying the law. Which is what LGW in truth preaches, however skilfully he tries to use words to protest to the contrary. And it was the same in the church I went to when young. In truth, these people simply excuse their own sin(somehow) and just concentrate on the fact they do not get drunk, smoke, use foul language, have extra marital affairs etc. They then believe they have reached the moral requirement to enter heaven. Again, it is so shallow, many who persecuted Christ and the early church could have passed their tests easily
You have to understand the message contained in the letter. Just reeling off huge chunks of the letter itself proves nothing, a child could do it!! And in my experience, there are only partial sola scripturists anyway, its just quoting selective verses they copy paste from their computer.
It is sad really, they will never truly understand the message they are so confident they fully know. And they miss out on what is most important in Christianity. They do not display the love and compassion in their lives as you will find among others who do not have their mindset. For the letter kills, it either crushes you, or you become hardnosed. Neither of those brings forth love for others in anyone. You just end up preaching a message you cannot practice in your own personal life, again, no love for others in doing that
Well keep trying to snuff us.If our lamp has gone out how can we see when the road is dark and narrow? Why make claims that no one is claiming? Why make arguments no one is making? Where have I ever said to you or anyone else here that we recieve righteousness by obeying God's LAW? If I have never said or believe such things here why pretend that I have? This is simply being dishonest. I will leave that between you and God. I have already forgiven you.
So keep hiding behind the Scripture accusing people of things that aren't true. You speak your own words and testify of yourself over the Word of God. Only God's WORD is true and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions of men that seek to break the commandments of God. JESUS says those who KNOWINGLY follow the teachings and traditions of men are not following God *MATTHEW 15:3-9. Who should we believe and follow God or man *ROMANS 3:4; ACTS 5:29? I BELIEVE God's WORD do you?
This known unrepentant sin you talk about is...All those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.
I don't think there is much righteousness in demanding of others what you do not demand of yourself where the law is concerned. Jesus called it hypocrisy. No lamp or oil in hypocrisy is there Anyways, according to the bible you have to die to the law to see victory over sin, so no lamp or oil otherwise. I don't see that in your posts
Tis strange, you are prepared to give your views on some scripture but not others when asked. I guess that is all part of not being a teacher though, I understand
Goodnight
For sin shall no longer be your master for you are not under law but under grace Rom6:14 The way to have your lamp and oil is to not be under the law. Not when people tell you unless you obey fully the letter of the law you are a child of the devil and condemned.
To anyone in this thread - Can anyone provide any New Testament scriptures where Jesus or His Apostles, command the Church to gather on the Sabbath for worship? A commandment comes from a command.
