The rise in gas prices has always been part of Biden's plans

Oil monopoly? That was broke up about 120 yr ago under Teddy Roosevelt. What are you talking about?
It’s not a competitive industry. Oil prices are set on a global market. And it is the primary fuel for transportation so we are stuck with whatever price is set.

It is only not competitive as to the point some have strong influence over supply......which is where we can step in since we have plenty of supply that just needs developed. But first uncle joe has to shut his progressive leftist mouth and get out of the way. But I don't expect that; he has bought into the progressive leftist agenda even if it sinks the economy. Democrats need to hunker down in their foxholes come November cuz it ain't gonna be pretty for'em.......

I don’t see z as n incentive for oil companies to develop much more than they are now. Profits are high and drivers are still filling up, even if they groan about it. Might want to look at the oil industry instead putting it all on Biden.

Who in the oil industry has said we aren't going to pump/develop any more cuz we are making enough money right now to keep us happy?.....Who? Now, who has said he wants to put the oil companies out of business?......Who? If you can think it through correctly you got your answer.

Nope, but he could sure add more oil to the commodity bucket.....you know more supply available?......supply and demand curve (econ 101).
Oil is privately owned here in the US, apart from the strategic reserves.

Profitability of Large Pharmaceutical Companies Compared With Other Large Public Companies

Shootings Have Surged -- and Gun Companies Have Made Billions

Is it just a coincidence that the oil industry just saw a 300% profit increase in the first quarter than the first quarter last year?
Is it a coincidence that politicians are beholden to them, not us?

Is it a coincidence pharmaceutical companies saw a 76.5% profit margins while average fortune 500 companies saw 37.4% profit margins? Is it a coincidence our politicians are beholden to them, not us?

Is it a coincidence gun and ammunition manufacturers profits have skyrocketed in proportion to increased gun violence in America? Is it merely a coincidence our politicians are beholden to the gun lobby instead of working to protect us?

Evidence is mounting that it's more than a coincidence. Politicians will exploit us however much we let them. Not only do we let them, we empower them to profit from our collective misery.

Voting is useless when Americans continually vote against our nation's best interests and instead vote to enable the corrupt politicians to continue their exploitation of all us citizens. Voting for letters exacerbates our issues because politicians manipulate this to minimize our power as an electorate. They understand tribalism and people's willingness to be manipulated and exploited.

We blame everyone else for our nation's problems except ourselves, which continues to lead us to our demise as the world's leader of democracy. And perhaps our democracy itself. The entire world is struggling thru a pandemic. Strength comes with unity. Being a United States was once our strength. So of course Americans decide to continue dividing ourselves into tribal groups at this point in time to blame each other for our struggles. It is disheartening and mind boggling to watch America eat itself alive when we need to be helping each other thru these difficult times.

A friend of mine thinks we are living in Revelation now and the end is near. I've always told him people have thought that for a couple thousand years. But now I am not sure that his assessment is fearfully wrong. Humanity seems to be running towards the end as fast as possible. I'm reckon I'm going to get some new sneakers so I can keep up! At least Norman Greenbaum and I have a friend in Jesus and aren't worried about it.

I ain't fighting the end. I'm ready friend. It's difficult to separate oneself from the suffering I see daily while trying to patiently await the next life tho. I cannot turn a blind eye to those suffering. People on this forum are suffering due to their obsession with tribalism. You should have read a couple of links I posted to maybe increase your awareness of how tribalism has affected our judgment of facts. These corporate entities and politicians are whom we need to defend our interests from, not each other. Peace

Yes, you do need to explain yourself. I have already said uncle joe needs to shut his progressive leftist mouth about getting rid of oil and then get out of the way so THEY can contribute to solving this problem. As long as joe and his progressive leftist buds run their mouths about shutting down fossil fuels the oil companies are going to sit back and watch them cook in their own fat.........

Do you have any information from a source that is not as biased towards one political party and who has questionable accuracy?

No one should be amazed that Joe has been speaking for years that he wants to end fossil fuel, then he gets into office and continues to do his best to end it.

The people who are sufferings the worst are the middle class and poor - which he and some of the people in his party do seem to care about beyond their votes.

No President wants high gas prices and inflation during an election year … that just hands the election to the other party.

Look for Republican gains in November of 2022 (because the Democrats are in control and vulnerable). It is the same thing that cost Jimmy Carter re-election and allowed Bill Clinton to win the White House.

The government would not control gas prices with world-wide supply-demand manipulation, they would just increase the federal gas tax and use the money to subsidize “charging stations” (the real Achilles heel in electric cars at the moment). All of the auto manufacturers are pushing forward with electric vehicles and have been for at least the last 5 years.

[I design new auto dealerships and charging stations, stub outs for more charging stations in the future, special bays to service electric cars and special storage facilities for electric batteries are all common features in new dealerships.]

It is obvious that those driving the agenda are not legitimately motivated by reducing greenhouse gases, Joe's attack on American fossil fuel means more oil that is not subjected to strict U.S. production standards which means the acceleration of global warming. Combined with your study it is an environmental disaster. We need to stop the Democrats' agenda and put in people who care about conservation and the future of the world.
Honestly, I think the focus should be on hydrogen vehicles...not electric.

Maybe Joe can appoint Hunter to be his new Energy Secretary. I hear he is an expert on the oil and natural gas industry.

I don't think it was "part of his plan" as much as his rhetoric is more "trying to retrofit the current situation into my party's platform like it's something we planned on".

But I don't think anyone is actually buying that explanation. (Apart from people trying to attribute a nefarious motive/plan to him that he's not clever enough to have come up with)

The reality is, "gas prices" have always been something of a major talking point, and no president has ever like having high gas prices during their administration, and have always liked to tout low gas prices when they happen as evidence of "the economy doing better", and when gas prices are high, presidents will often try to rationalize them any way they can.

When you look at gas prices over the past 20 years, there have been a lot of ups and downs and there doesn't seem to be a pattern with regards to which party is in power.

For instance, there was a time under Obama that gas prices were 1.78 per gallon, and a time under Trump where it was 2.90 a gallon. If it were as simple as "democrats want to artificially make gas expensive on purpose to push a green agenda", Obama would've done that in 2009.

The reality is with gas prices, unless we get to a point where we rely only on ourselves for it and don't have any international partners, there's going to be a lot that's out of a president's control.

I'd go as far as saying state governors and legislatures have more of an impact on "what we pay at the pump" than a sitting president, as the gasoline taxes (one of the few aspects that are something within our control) are something dictated at the state level.
