  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Clever! Except you have to be careful, because there is usually a slight different in size between the right and left ring fingers.

Wow, I guess those of us who want to be surprised really make it hard on you guys! I'm sorry. :( But it's still really romantic if you've gone to all that trouble for us.

Yes, you do. :p

It's not really that bad though if we are sure that it is what you want. I would hate to go through all that trouble and then find that she really wanted to pick out the ring herself.

Yeah, I mean, I wonder how you could really tell which she wanted. You could talk to her friends/relatives, but that could seriously spoil the suprise. I guess you'd have to go by how well she receives other old-fashioned/traditional gestures. The bottom line, I think, is to follow your own heart and inclinations. If you are a romantic who dreams of pulling out that little velvet box while down on one knee... go for it! Be true to yourself and your inner Romeo. :)

Yeah, sorry guys!

About the ring size being equal to the shoe size thing, it's not true for me. I have size 11 feet but only a size 8 ring finger.

our former youth pastor supposedly used a ring from a bubblegum machine to propose, and she accepted. of course he did get her a real ring afterwards, but it was the principle of the matter.

i'd probably do the same thing, but i can see the other person thinking its some sort of joke.

Didn't bother to read what every one else wrote, but I thought I'd share my $.02 worth anyway.

We went shopping for her ring. However, I didn't tell her when I bought the ring and I didn't tell her when I planned to propose...that way, it was all a surprise. She recognized the ring, but she had no clue that I got it nor did she know that I was ready to propose. That way she gets the ring that she wants along with the surprise which I know she likes.

Sounds like she got the best of both worlds. :)

I would a the real thing if a gentleman was to propose to me. He could find out what I like from me, my mother, friends. It is possible to find a ring that she will love even if she didn't pick it out.

True, but much more difficult.

I think that you two can just "stop in" at the mall to see what shape of diamond, size, and # of stones, solitare or 3, and get an idea. In the end it's sopossed to be special and something YOU pick out!!!

Yeah, I think this is a great idea. See what she likes and go from there. The surprise won't be ruined but she will have an idea that you want to marry her... which I hope she would know by that time anyway.

For Me, I'm going to buy the ring. I know it takes out her choice, but I figure if I make sure it's a great one, she'll be just as happy. Of course, this may change because I have no problem with proposing without the ring. It's the relationship with God I'm going to stress when I propose.
