The name meant nothing to me. It didn't sound like the name of a distant star -- not enough numbers in the name. I don't read fanatsy, so I didn't grok the reference from it source. If I did, I might have made the connection to the star named after some middle Earth thing, or maybe I wouldn't. If it had been named "Spock" perhaps I would have remembered reading about the star.
