I just heard something today about a red heifer and end time prophecy. Does anyone have any info on this?

I've heard this for the last 10 years...
Tradition states that the animal of choice for the Jewish Sacrifice was the red heifer...
Dispensational Eschatology (the "Left Behind" genre) promotes the idea of a new Temple that will be built thus the idea of the continuation of sacrifices...
Too me it really doesn't mean anything as I don't believe in dispensational eschatology...

Personally, there's only one thing a red heifer is good for in my estimation...

There is currently in Jerusalem a contingent of Orthodox Jews who are actively working to re-build the temple. There is even an organization, The Temple Institute, http://templeinstitute.org/, that has been systematically making all the vessels, garments, etc. needed for the temple.
The red heifer was a rare sacrifice offered for certain special occasions. These cattle have been non-existent for many years due to inter-breeding, etc. There has recently (past couple of years) been bred some of these cattle in preparation for the sacrifices of the temple. We met the "red heifer" man and his wife in Jerusalem back in '97.
Real down to earth, country fella... When I met him, he was the only one in the marketplace wearing a cowboy hat.
Anyway, he's been working with the locals for quite some time in the breeding aspects of the pure red heifer...
Hey, with that heifer and St. Malachy's papal prophecies of the 1100's, looks like we're gettin' short on time...

Which leads to another interesting topic...
on the "haydid.org" site, there is a picture of the Dome of the Spirits". I follow the theory that if the Temple is to be rebuilt, the Holy of Holies will sit on top of this rock.
It is the highest piece of natural granite on the Temple mount, higher than "Mohammed's" rock. When you stand outside of the Dome of the Rock, you are standing above the level where, supposedly, Mohammed ascended to heaven on a white stallion.
As you step into the Dome of the Spirits, you are standing on the highest point of the Temple mount itself. You are actually standing on natural granite. The rest of the flooring at this level on the Temple Mount is carved stone.
I took a few good "postcard-worthy" pics of the Dome of the Spirits when we last went there in 1999. If I can find them and can figure a way to post the pic on a thread, I'll do so...
