If you look up the Hebrew word used for atonement its kaphar, which has its first meaning as to cover. So all it did was cover over their sin it did not make them reconciled to God, that's what Jesus did on the cross, 2 Cor 5:19 In Christ God was reconciling the cosmos to himself.

I do believe that the gospel being preached in all nations sets the stage for a massive shift. I believe that there are periods of time in which Jesus will take that stupor off of the majority of us and when that happens huge numbers of people will repent. A time is coming when the dragon will be bound for one thousand years and will not be able to deceive the majority of humans as has been the case in the past and even until now.And what does Rom 11:8 with your thoughts. ?
