I been trying to keep you on topic, but your reply is always about me instead of that topic.Oh, now I'm the scapegoat. Nice.
You matched every one of my replies with a post.
Seems fair that you would take at least half the blame.
It's your thread. Ultimately you are most responsible.
I'm done.I been trying to keep you on topic, but your reply is always about me instead of that topic.
The Apostle Paul uses that as a rebuttal against those preaching the law.I'm with the "positive commenters" here. There is so little that a person must believe to be counted in God's Family, meaning Saved. Bottom Line is "Christ and Him Crucified", as the Apostle Paul said in I Corinthians 2:2. But this could be unclear to unbelievers, so let me expand it a little.
Jesus Christ is the one and only begotten son of God. His DNA were planted in a virgin girl, Mary, who was "betrothed" (a fiance) to Joseph. And since the Old Testament Prophets said the Messiah had to come from the house of David, Joseph was of the house of David (actually Mary and Joseph were both of the house of David). God stated in His own voice twice, audibly, that Jesus was His Son. And since David was from Bethlehem, Joseph and Mary had to go to Bethlehem to give birth to Jesus, Caesar Augustus was used by God to force Joseph and Mary to go to Bethlehem (The City of David) to register for the census, hence the Christmas Story.
After Jesus ministered for three years, and fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophesies about Himself (The Messiah), He allowed the ruling Jews (with the Romans help) to crucify him as a propitiation (payment) for the sins of the world, past present and future. This was the final blood sacrifice needed by God, to cleanse the world of all sin, and it was part of their (The Trinity) plan before the world began.
However, just as with the Jews creating thousands of man-made laws, we today have made many of our own man-made laws. However, the foundation, "Christ and Him Crucified ", still holds for all true Christians, and that's all that is demanded of us in order to be Saved.
Now, I believed 90% all Christians will agree with what I have written, so far. However, to pull in the last 10%, of which I am one, I will add one more thing that will automatically happen when a Believer realizes what God/Jesus/Holy Spirit (The Trinity) has done for them, they will repent of their sins, and beg God's forgiveness. Repent is a ugly word, that we don't hear so much anymore, but I believe it is as applicable today as it ever was. Most of the time repentance happens before being Saved and sometimes afterward, but repentance becomes a way of life for true Believers, because we continue to sin until the day we die.
I tend to see repenting as faith, as in both are gifts of God towards us in order to get us saved, as God wants us to repent of our good works having anything to do in saving us, and to lean fully upon Jesus and the Cross alone!I'm with the "positive commenters" here. Welcome to the forums Paul. Being new here, you will soon find that there are many here in the Controversial forum who equate the "unity of the Spirit" to 'conformity of doctrine'.....always their doctrine, of course. They also believe that changing their mind doctrinally on anything is the equivalent of 'forsaking the faith' so they cling tightly to 'the trimmings', as you aptly put it. So tightly, that they can't begin to receive a new thing from you or anyone else.YeshuaFan,
I was trying to negate your original question about the need for all church doctrines to be the same. I liken the argument to a complete Thanksgiving Dinner, where the main course (Jesus), and very few trimmimgs are all that is important, yet we argue over all of the trimmings. One at the dinner table says, "Oh, it's not a complete dinner without fresh Cranberry Sauce", and another says "Oh, it is incomplete if there's no Yams!"
Jesus Christ is the main course in all of "Christiandom", and in all churches! As long as they get that (HIM) right, the rest is all trimmings! It's not about what we know, it's about Who we know!
God also doesn't give forth any new and additional revelations or doctrines today, despite what some might hold to!God doesnt give different churches different doctrine. Man does that without God.
Are we in the last days?God also doesn't give forth any new and additional revelations or doctrines today, despite what some might hold to!
Know what else marks the end times? False prophets. Are we in the last days?
Acts 2:17-18
“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.
In the end times people will heap teachers to themselves to teach what their itching ears want to hear.God also doesn't give forth any new and additional revelations or doctrines today, despite what some might hold to!
That's ridiculous.Know what else marks the end times? False prophets.
Your starting point is wrong as although the apostles fixed some divisions, they clearly didn't fix all divisions.Whenever the apostles confronted division in the church they fixed it. Where are all the modern day apostles who will fix the division in church today? Also, how can all these church teachers be called by God if their doctrine divides us? Does God teach division and confusion?
No its not. In the end times people will heap teachers to themselves to teach what their itching ears want to hear. Doesnt sound good for teachers in the last daysThat's ridiculous.
There have been false prophets as long as there have been prophets.
Are you inferring that all prophecy today is false?
Got a scripture to prove your assertion? No you dont. They fixed all division when it occurred. They sure didnt promote itYour starting point is wrong as although the apostles fixed some divisions, they clearly didn't fix all divisions.
That's why there were regular rebukes on that topic.
Since the time of ascension of Christ! Are we in the last days?
