Ok, I just watched this on DVD. It didn't change my opinion that the Royal family is cold, detached and unfeeling. I also did not believe, or like, the way that cheatin dog Charles was portrayed as being so affected by Diana's death!

The only thing I was surprised by was Queen Elizabeth driving her own vehicle around their property, and how vitrolic Prince Phillip's feeling towards Diana are.

They all, including the Queen Mum, were jealous of Princess Di,plain and simple. She was so much more human and caring than any of them ever have been, or ever will be.

I loved the characters of Tony Blair and his wife, and I agree with the wife's character asking during Elizabeth's public statement-staged photo-Op, when Elizabeth says as Your Queen and a Grandmother I say this from my heart and Tony's wife says "What Heart"?

The acting was great, all around, but they couldn't have paid me enough to portray any of the Royal family.

BTW, I missed the significance of the stag completely, but it was a beautiful animal.

The stag was meant to be a metaphor for how the Paparazzi were desperate to catch a faceshot of Diana, much like the hunters wanted to get the magnificent stag's head, which the Queen did not want. So when she finds out that stag has been killed, she feels genuine sorrow for Diana who was hunted by the perennial fascination with beauty and celebrity stardom in the public eye.
