Not a simple question at all. Probably we'd need to first find the gravitron or a cause. But I am not a physicist.

That tells me all I need to know. There are those in many forums who avoid the straight forward and simple answers because they'd orefer to appear deep and meaningful.

Do we fully understand gravity? Maybe not. But if you think you can't demonstrate it by dropping something...

'Demonstrate' is not really a clear term. Better to say, as I initially did, that Gravity is not directly observed but inferred. This is not just me saying so, but Physics. Dropping a pencil is not a direct observation of Gravity.

There are seldom straight forward and simple answers, unless they are fundamentally nonsense or simplifications. People who fear complexity or do not take the time to understand what someone else is saying, are just paddling in the shallow end of the pool.

B: Well, the earth has mass. And this pencil has mass.

B: Exactly right. And the larger the mass the greater the attraction.
A: So if we allow the pencil free movement then it will be attracted to the earth.
B: Yes. It will head towards the centre of the mass.

I can demonstrate the theory of the four elements: Take a twig and heat it up: it will catch fire, you'll notice bubbling of the sap or pith, smoke will rise, and ash will remain behind - thus demonstrating it consists of fire, earth, air and water.

I can demonstrate the theory of the four humours: Draw some blood and let it stand. You'll see it differentiates into four layers of black bile, yellow bile, phlegm and blood proper (or in the modern Erythrocyte sedimentation terminology: serum, oxygenated red cells, deoxygenated red cells and clot).

'Demonstrates' is not clear. We have not directly observed it, but we have observed phenomena from which we inferred it. I can demonstrate many principles by this same reasoning that I cannot necessarily say were directly observed.
