I know God gave me His word in my own language. You can believe it or not.

You have only presented "I know" as evidence. We do not believe it.

Since you are not even trying to discuss the evidence but just presenting your view in circles I guess we can do the same.

We do not believe that it is true simply because you know it is true.

I can't prove anything you won't believe. If you won't believe you have the word of God in English in black and white, you won't believe it. Believe it or not. What I am writing here is my word in English and you can't change it or deny that I said it. What I have beside me as I type is God's word in English, better known as the King James Authorized Version, and you can't change it and you can't deny what He said in His word. Modern versions change God's word, and if that does not bother you, well you are allowed to not be bothered and I respect you for not being bothered by people who change God's word. Sometimes I think it would be nice if they would quit trying to bother me. I also think it would be good if they would quit changing God's word.

Nobody will be allowed to bring any fake Bible into my house, and if you insist on opening one on the table in front of me to read from it, don't be offended if I walk out because I already told you I don't like modern versions. Why do people keep trying to stick those modern versions in my face? I'm not interested, I know they are full of lies and distortions of God's word, I know they have twisted and changed God's word and are not God's word. You know they are not God's word, and that's why you have to get more and more of them in order to try to put them all together to find God's word. I have God's word, I'm sorry you have not found it yet. I do respect you for trying to find it. I sincerely hope you find it. If you get another version, I hope it helps you to know what God's word is in English.

Maybe after you get five or six more versions, that will be enough for you to know exactly what God said in English.

Same thing. You know it because you know it. I think we get that now.

Joe, you should start your own thread on this.

The KJV is God's perfect word in English. Evidence: I know.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) I don't have to understand the languages of the manuscripts copied from the originals to know by faith that I have God's preserved word in my own language. I am thankful that I was shown this in God's word shortly after I got saved before anybody could make me think that it's too good to be true.

it's called the Preservation of the Holy Scripture. This is the thread. Maybe you need to start a new thread called "Trying to figure out what the originals really meant in English because the originals were not preserved"

If it's not preserved, it's not perfect. If it's not perfect, it's not preserved.

If it's not preserved, it's not perfect. If it's not perfect, it's not preserved.

Why was it only preserved after 1611?

If it's not preserved, it's not perfect. If it's not perfect, it's not preserved.

You have the same problem of the originals being gone. You have simply declared that one perfect text exists with no evidence.

Why have you abandoned the promise of God argument? Because you can't find any manuscript that actually agrees with the KJV?

Did God only promise those who speak English after 1611?

I have never heard of a Baptist abandoning the promise of God.

Same thing. You know it because you know it. I think we get that now.

Great! So now we know that I know what I know! Wonderful!!

My father once tried to tell me I don't know what I know. In fact, he tried to tell me I CANNOT know what I know. I told him he does not know what I know, and I DO know what I know.

Do you know what it was that he was trying to tell me I do not and cannot know? It was the same thing as you trying to tell me I do not know I have God's word preserved in English. I know what I know. It's childishly simple, isn't it?

My father was trying to tell me that I cannot know that Jesus Christ is God and that He rose from the grave bodily. My father was wrong in that. I know He is God who rose from the grave bodily after He took my death and paid for my sins with His own blood. I know my sins are forgiven and I am going to heaven. My father was trying to tell me I cannot know that the same as you are trying to tell me I cannot know I have God's word in English preserved by Him and given to me by Him in the King James Authorized Version of the Bible. It' s childishly simple, and it's really a waste of time to try to tell me that I cannot know what I know.

I like the way my beliefs were stated so simply and plainly a few posts back, so I'm posting this excerpt to make sure they are clear and not overlooked from posts going by quickly.

Then why would you hold that God did not keep that promise to all the believers before 1611?

Yet there is in fact evidence of Jesus, and of the resurrection. The Scriptures themselves are in fact evidences, and the NT is the most attested to book in all of history. Moreover, we have this as the testimony of the church throughout its life.

And if your claim is true that the KJV is God's word in English, then you should be able to show that. You have not done so. You have simply claimed it is so because you know it.

You cannot find one manuscript that actually agrees with the readings of the KJV. So why would you think it is the right one?

Where does it say in God's word that the KJV is the true word of God in English?

Please state the chapter and verse that says that. Otherwise, it is just back to you saying it is true, because you say it is true.

As for Jesus' resurrection, the church has held to that as doctrine, passed down. As to the notion that the KJV is God's perfect word in English the whole church has certainly not believed that. And if you intend to try to establish a doctrine that the KJV is the perfect word of God in English you ought to have some evidence besides you saying that it is so.

What translation has been Preached the most and led the most to Christ?

I wonder how many found the Lord just by picking up a Gideon Bible?

Granted today they plant other translations, but the vast majority through the years has been the King James.

Through the years since 1611 you mean? Because there was a whole lot of history before then, and many translations, and many converts.

a. No one has said the KJV is a poor translation.
b. No one has denied that it has been used in a great way.
c. That does not prove divine perfection in reproducing the originals.

It is point c. that this is about. Perhaps you will be more willing to discuss than Joe. If God preserved His word from the time of the founding of the church, and it exactly matches the KJV, why does no extant manuscript have the same readings as the text of the KJV?

Are you trying to tell me that the Bible says it is not God's word in English?

Can you give me chapter and verse where the Bible says it is not God's word in English?

I know some of the editors and publishers of modern versions say that their version is an attempt at getting closer to the originals, but can you give me chapter and verse in the Bible where it says in English that it is not the true word of God in English? You cannot show me this in the Bible. You have been taught that you do not have the true word of God in English, but you cannot show me in the Bible where it says it is not the true word of God, can you?

Childishly simple argument, isn't it?
