  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, we have "Things that make you happy" and "What good thing happened to you today" but I don't see a random positive thoughts thread and one of my goals this year is to find something positive EVERY day no matter how bad things are!

My positive for the day is that I had a great conversation with a new friend! It was really pleasant and it was mutual. She wanted to talk to me as much as I wanted to talk to her and we both talked about equal amounts. I love it when it goes both ways!

Positive random thought for today is that I am so grateful it has been warm enough to clear the roads! This morning it was snowy and absolutely stunningly beautiful on the way to church, but the roads were sloppy and I was worried about getting back up my hill. It was no problem because God warmed it up enough that the roads were simply wet by the time church was done! :D

Oops, forgot a random thought yesterday! So my positive thought for yesterday is that I am grateful a good friend of mine came through surgery ok and is already feeling better.

My positive thought for today is that I am grateful to be alive and to have my friends and family in my life.

I had a dental appointment today that promised to be pretty "hairy", the dentist had to work on a bad tooth and try to not hit the nerve (ugh!). Anyway, I still may have to get a root canal, but he did not hit the nerve!!! Praise Jesus! :bow:Whew...

Anyone so inclined could pray I won't need a root canal ever. I would greatly appreciate it, and it would be fodder for a future positive post on this thread. :)

:amen:

My positive thought is that I am grateful for what I have. So many people are losing their homes to fire lately. Someone in my town just lost their home. Thankfully they and their family are safe. But not everyone is so lucky.

Positive thought for the day...

Was just reminded as I was sitting here, of the scripture God gave me just over 4 years ago. At the time I was going thru a really difficult time, and when he gave it to me, I knew it was a promise for me, but thought it was, at the time, for the next two years. Just recently, I was going thru a couple of things in a plastic crate, and came across a local Phone Directory from 2010. Was about to throw it into the recycle. Then I noticed, barely sticking out between the pages in the phone book, was a small, torn piece of paper, and when I read it, it was the scripture God had given me back during that difficult time! I dont know who wrote it on the piece of paper, and I do not remember anything about it. I believe I it was not a coincidence that I found it that day. It was a reminder of that promise God gave to me, and I believe its for now, and the coming year.

Not long after God gave me that scripture a few years ago, one of my close friends, who does photography, set that scripture into photos for me. I had no idea she had done it, so when the photos arrived from the USA, I opened the letter, and sat in my car and cried. They now sit in frames on my mantlepiece in my loungeroom. The photographer was Tins(she started this thread). Here they are the photos, not in the actual frames).

Btw, the scripture is Isaiah 61:1-3. Funny thing is, the scrap of paper I found included verse 4 as well.
