• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, but you are not speaking directly from the Bible. There is an intervening step. Yu are speaking from the standpoint of how fundamentalist ideology views Scripture. The issues here really aren't about God per se or the Bible per se; the issue here is how accurate is fundamentalaistic ideology. Now, I don't doubt fundamentalism may work for some Christians. After all, the right wing is a well-established, well- recognized part of Christendom. However, it does not work for everyone. Not all Christians are on the right, no should they be. God wants Christians to be right, not just on the right. I found fundamentalism dos not even begin to meet my spiritual and intellectual needs. I found it an intolerant, anti-intellectual approach. The SOP is that any scholar, Christian or otherwise, who dares disagree with fundamentalaistic ideology and its view of teh Bible is automatically written off as a heretic, lost soul, reprobate, you name it. While that may be "in" in the Bible Belt, it dos not even begin to cut it in scholarly studies.

Your post is a major no-no in any serious theological discussion. It is off limits for you to try and hit below the belt and attack others on the basis that they aren't good Christians. That's simply the defensive tactic many use to get off the hook and save face when they know they have a weak argument they can't support, i.e., you can't rebut his ideas, so you try and win by cheating and attacking his character.
