  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wanted a Parrot until someone told me how demanding they are. I got a dog instead, it is sad to see so many types of pets in shelters. And people are even breeding more pets that will become homeless. My cousin just breed her dog and cat and now have to take the puppies and kittens to a shelter.

I feel any pet is demanding but parrots are the worse, they need attention 24/7 or they get angry and pull out their feathers and start making alot of noise. Two people by me have parrots and they don't take good care of them. They let them fly out in the front yard and all this stuff. I even had one of the parrots in my tree once. It made so much noise, I could hear it 3 blocks away. Anyways, I think many people need to study a pet before getting one so they can see if it's right for them. I study dogs and I knew that was the pet for me.

That is horrible! You are so right, over my lifetime I have known many people who get a pet without any research whatever first! Most have no clue about the different dog breeds requirements, how heavy they shed, nothing. Some animal do not make good bets or even belong in the pet trade such as parrots that are known biters,I feel should not even be bred, but prospective owners need to do their reserch first as well,to see if the pet they are thinking of would even be compatible. Such as I know I would never want a dog that sheds again or a cat,but I cannot tolerate the hair anymore. It would make me very unhappy and miserable. Such wise advice from one so young.I am proud of you sis.:)
