[SIZE=+1]Having seen the arguments against this view above, let me rephrase it.

Can someone please show me where "Christmas tree" appears in any official doctrine, policy., belief, creed, prayer book, catechism, foundational document, etc. etc. etc. of any Christian denomination? You may include Easter Bunnies, if you like.[/SIZE]
Good point :) they are CULTURAL traditions not incorporated doctrine.

[SIZE=+1]"If someone presents a comment like that in the manner it was presented, it is usually to imply that because they haven't seen it, it must not be..." Assuming and imputing motives to me, which are not true and which explains the "contrary" comment.

Note my post on the topic followed immediately by someone's else's post. I made a statement of my experience and someone immediately afterward said "contrary to what has been claimed."

My experience is my experience and what anyone else may or may not have experienced may be different but is NOT and CANNOT be
Contrary: a fact or condition incompatible with another : a proposition so related to another that though both may be false they cannot both be true --

It sems to me, C.O., that you spend a great deal of time majoring on minors . . . . :)

Since when is the experience and life of Christianity limited to official doctrines?

Not in our church

[SIZE=+1]Mine either. I haved a few hymnals, including a bilingual one in my wife's native language, and that particular song is not in them. And I have never heard it sung in a worship service. I think the only place I have ever heard it sung, in English, was in the Sound of Music. I may have heard "O Tannenbaum" when I was stationed in Germany. For some reason I know the first few words in German. "O tannenbaum, o tannebaum, wie schon sind deine blatte."

I almost fell out of my chair when I read that post. I had tears in my eyes. People thought I was nuts. Saying to myself, "I knew it. I just knew it. Someone was going to come back with that particular song." Wonder if I can get a gig on TV as a mind reader? LOL.[/SIZE]

How about "We 3 kings from orient..."

I mean, sure they were wealthy, but the Bible refers to them as astrologers, from Saudi and Africa, maybe, but not the Orient.

The thing I hate about Christmas in many churches is that we have forgotten the shivering, [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth], wailing and vulnerable baby Jesus born to a teenager in a cave - and swapped him for a cuddly easter-bunny-type-affair. Or worse...
