Creationists constantly claim that abiogenesis and evolution are and must be linked otherwise evolution is false. In response to that claim I have been asking this question and thus far, the responses have ranged from evasion to crickets.

Here are 4 possible sources for the origin of life on earth. Tell me how any of them effect evolution in any way.
1. Abiogenesis
2. Panspermia
3. Fiat creation by God
4. Something weird like being a science project for hyper-dimensional high schoolers.

So, Creationists, can any of you step up to the plate and answer my question?

Good luck.

The fundies, that need to tie abiogenesis to evolution are only attempting to muddy the waters, because the evidence for evolution is so strong.

They either don't know they are doing it or they are doing it deliberately, if they don't know they are doing it then I feel sorry for them but if they are doing it deliberate what is wrong with them? just how badly have they been damaged?
I can see how they might lie to others but how on earth are they able to lie to themselves?

You know the trick; if we dont know everything, we cant know anything.

Typical, black and white thinking.

That's indeed something I don't get either.

It seems to be pretty engrained and part of a larger picture. Like the insistence on being able to "choose" your beliefs. Like...arbitrarily. Like being able to choose blue socks instead of red ones.

Quite baffling.

This is why you can't argue them out of a single point or something. Because the actual problem lies much deeper and whatever point they are arguing is ultimatily irrelevant, being merely a consequence of some fundamental misunderstanding about rational reasoning, epistemology or whatever.

I'm sure psychologists could give it a name.

That's true, there are no greys with religions things are right or wrong, black or white, there is no middle ground with religion, they all say that every religion is wrong except mine, all were made up by man except mine, all Gods are false except mine, the crazy crazy thing is they all believe those things are true.

If they are hyper dimensional, they'd be expiermenting with universe creating by middle-school. If you're going to make things up, at least be reasonable.

:D

If number 3 is the God of the Bible possibility, then it effects evolution tremendously, because evolution never took place, the God of the Bible created it all.

I'd say no reason to make up such nonsense as evolution in the first place would have a pretty strong affect on evolution...makes perfect sense to me anyway.

Didn't I just go over this with you?
