Well, I'll grant you that stopping the wind would take divine intervention but there is nothing about God stopping the wind for 300 days that in the Bible. If the 40 days and nights of rain drains the atmosphere of heat, or at the very least reduces heat and pressure differences, the winds would stop, and thus wave action would be reduced significantly . So, no wind, no waves. Fits my model.
Rain drains energy from the atmosphere - physicsworld.com
You do know that only 5% of fossils ever found appear in any sort of order? The fossil record is proof positive of a world wide flood. That and the chalk cliffs, the Grand Canyon, Etc.
The problem is that you have brought your own canvas and are treating some of the Bible's colors as "optional".My pastor used to joke that he attended Seminary, where he majored in Speculation. Speculation is like 'painting by the numbers'. The bible is the numbered canvas and we get to paint in the details.
I have had several people tell me that water falling produces heat, and if oceans fell we woulld all be steamed. Now you say rain drained the heat?My model has,
No wind. The forty days of rain had drained the heat needed for winds from the atmosphere.
That assumes it was real salty then. Therefore no one could 'sail' anywhere but would be carried along on the flood water along with the corpses as well as the putrid smell.
The rains stopped after forty days, therefore no more fresh water for the duration of the flood.
Not true. The assumptions are circular. They use our laws to model how it was and then claim our laws must have existed!Because after decades of study, exploration, and experimentation, there is no rational reason NOT to presume that.
The flood was worldwide, how could the Ark be far from the debris but other boats wouldn't be?My model has,

The ark was in different location, far from the main flood debris and therefore wasn't bothered by it.
Thanks for showing you that you don't understand how the scientific community came to the determination that uniformitarianism was the best explanation. Not true. The assumptions are circular. They use our laws to model how it was and then claim our laws must have existed!
Explain how it was not circular? Thanks for showing you that you don't understand how the scientific community came to the determination that uniformitarianism was the best explanation.

Rain absorbs atmospheric heat and transfers it to the earth. After 40 days of rain the atmosphere would be cool and stable with little wind. The overspreading of seawater would mitigate temperature and pressure differences that generate wind.
That assumes it was real salty then.
That's a fair assumption.

You would need orders of magnitude more water than exists in all the oceans. Salt wouldn't be an issue

I'm guessing the main flotsam of bodies, which would include livestock, would come from population centers. This flotsam would form a dense and gruesome flotilla at least in the short term. The ark site was located some distance from these heavily populated areas, thus providing a safe separation from most of the carnage.

It also helps to believe it if you can "take advantage of all the space between the lines" and make it up as you go along,I'm just taking advantage all the space between the lines. The bible is famously brief and understated. Valid assumptions flesh out the stories.

at least you are honest about the way you come to terms with it, there should be more like you here.
Yes, most likely.
Here's another list of people. All myth?
Because that isn't what happened. Scientists DO NOT measure what happens today and claim "that must be the way it has always been."Explain how it was not circular?
Why? We don't see that happening today when we see floods.I'm guessing the main flotsam of bodies, which would include livestock, would come from population centers. This flotsam would form a dense and gruesome flotilla at least in the short term.
More reading between the Biblical lines? The ark site was located some distance from these heavily populated areas, thus providing a safe separation from most of the carnage.
So falling water say, in the amount of the Pacific and Atlantic ocean volumes would not produce heat from friction (assuming today's laws) that was significant?[serious];65512309 said:You would need orders of magnitude more water than exists in all the oceans. Salt wouldn't be an issue
One example is looking at the orbit of the moon. They work backwards till they smash it into planet earth! Another example is Continental drift rates....they assume the same rates and work backwards. Need I go on. That is EXACTLY the name of their game.Because that isn't what happened. Scientists DO NOT measure what happens today and claim "that must be the way it has always been."
Scientists test to see what happens today and then make predictions about how things would have happened differently had different physical laws been in place at other times.
Why? We don't see that happening today when we see floods.
We don't have biblical floods anymore.
You do realize that 70% of the earth is covered by water, right? That gives all that flotsam and jetsam plenty of room to spread out.
I'm sure it does after a period of time.
