  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I wouldn't mind that change. But again, they would have had to come here at a very young age and be here quite a while. Ten years minimum. Preferably 20.

BTW, if they can't speak fluent English, fuggetaboutit. They never assimilated.

Our official language is not English. We don't have one.

I'd say anybody brought here when they would not have had a choice in the matter (under 18) can have a path.

Two things: First, I didn't say we have an official language. Think of it as that test you have to take to be a citizen. The standards are higher for those seeking citizenship than those born here.

Second, I think the path may be a possibility for those brought here before they were 10. But it would apply to ONLY them and have no impact whatsoever on their parents or anyone else, regarding legal, or any other status.

And if they are under 18, ship 'em back WITH their parents. We don't want to break up families.

Yes it would. I say that as part of what those on the left would call their base. Truth be told, I left the R party 12 years ago because they are not conservative.

I really like this perspective regarding DACA. I confessed that I never even saw that viewpoint until I read the article. It just may be the highest road:

A Different Perspective on DACA
A crock. A very well written crock. But still a crock.

We could offer them a bribe to leave, but I don’t see conservatives willing to pony up enough money to make it worth leaving family, job, friends, to go back to some of the places involved.

I agree. But if they are "dropped off", maybe they could make a difference. ;)
